Vader Shuttle and 3 Mini-aces

By sionnach19, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Scimitar Squadron Pilot (19) - TIE Bomber
TIE Shuttle (0), Darth Vader (3)

"Pure Sabacc" (22) - TIE Striker
Adaptability (0), Adaptive Ailerons (0)

"Omega Leader" (26) - TIE/FO Fighter
Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)

"Quickdraw" (33) - TIE/SF Fighter
Rage (1), Electronic Baffle (1), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

I'm doubtful this list is any good, but the concept seems sound to me -- I get a 4 ship list on the table, each one fearsome in its own right. Pure Sabaac, the Vader Shuttle, and Quickdraw are all priority targets... my hope is to force hard choices, and one way or another I'll be able to leverage the destructive potential of two of those ships while my opponent focuses on destroying the third. Omega Leader is the unassuming fourth member, which likely means he can cruise into the lategame and leverage his ability (assuming I was able to put enough hurt out early on). If you don't like Rage/Baffle Quickdraw, you can make a switch to FCS instead. LWF is probably negotiable.

What do you think? Crazy? Capable?

Vader is dangerous on the shuttle. Its suicidal, would go down too fast. Same for electronic baffle for that matter. And Quickdraw does not want to be stressed for 2 turns, so if you want to keep Rage, I'd throw an inspiring recruit on that shuttle. The Omega leader build is perfect, I've flown against it and its savage. The Pure Sabacc is nice, but I feel like you could find a better EPT, and maybe LWF. But all around, a very strong starting point

Agreed that Darth Vader is wasted on a shuttle in all honesty. The Quickdraw Build is good for what you want to do (presumably Rage in the Activation phase remove a stress and a shield, shoot, then shoot again with Rage rerolls in the combat phase, move with green in the next activation phase and repeat if you have Shields left?). However my experience is that you often get to proc her ability once and then she's just a normal Tie/SF. You might have more luck building her lighter as a threat opponents don't really want to shoot.

I guess my hope was that lots of priority targets would present difficulties -- if you burn down the Vader shuttle (which I agree is squishy), then Quickdraw may get a chance to doubletap twice, or vice versa. As you say Goseki, my plan is to get an Activation phase shot with Quickdraw by using Rage and then Baffle; to doubletap with rerolls/focus... I love the idea of this build, but I'm not sure it will actually pan out in practice. If I can reliably get it to trigger twice I think it's amazing, and it might be worthwhile one time... but there are other builds that are less of a gamble (PTL rather than Rage, for instance; or even eschewing the Activation Phase gambit and just running FCS).

Thanks for your thoughts!

FCS Quickdraw is genuinely a thing of beauty. If you can be aggressive and get get to range one of an enemy ship, quite often your opponent won't shoot. It really helps that she can shoot anyone in arc after losing a shield.
