Any advice on this list? I dig Vader and the Firespray so don't really want to lose them. Any advice will be very much appreciated about the Gozanti as well!!

Cheers,

Slater

I'm not a fan of the WED. I find by the time you need him it's too late.

Hmmm...I'd be nervous taking 21 points of Stealth Device. I think Stealth Device is best when you have lots of tokens to keep it from failing, especially on Kath. Upon seeing all those Stealth Devices, I'd expect to see the Gozanti in a support role, sporting things like Fleet Officer, Comms Booster, and Grand Moff Tarkin. I don't know that it's bad the way it is, but it's atypical. Perhaps you should give it a go, and then let us know your thoughts on Stealth Device spam. I could be surprised.

Another thing I noticed is that you have the Requiem title, but you don't have Docking Clamps, so it can't carry the TIE fighters. Either drop the title to save points, and don't dock the fighters, or you'll have to lose one of your cargo upgrades on the Gozanti to equip Docking Clamps.

I agree with Parakitor one assault missile and you are not going to have a fun time

...sort of. Except Assault Missile splash damage doesn't remove the Stealth Device, because the target wasn't "hit" by an attack. Only the target of the actual missile attack will lose the Stealth Device. It's more a case of running into a traffic in the middle of the mat that worries me. A bunch of action-less TIE fighters with Stealth Device won't amount to much.

I suppose I should provide a suggestion of what to use those 21 points for if you don't want to change the Gozanti. Maybe "Howlrunner" with Push the Limit? But I suspect you've used all your TIE fighters. Man, 2 more points and you could afford "Fel's Wrath"...yeah, I'm kidding.

First of all...Welcome to Epic. This is my favourite way to play X Wing.

My advice is to invest less in the Gozanti. It is very fat. I know you want to equip that good looking upgrades...but it is too expensive. No Gunnery Team. No Tibanna. No Shield Tech. And no WED 15. You NEED Docking Clamps as said before.

This means 11 more points. Equip Vader with Stealth Device but only him. 18 extra points. Total 29. Perhaps a Tie Bomber with Assault Missiles and EM. They work great in Epic. Area Damagebis great.

And never forget that Epic is all about fun. X wing should be about fun... But Epic is 100% non Meta. Enjoy your ships and give a try to non Tier Aces.

Thank you very much for the advice guys. I'm gonna start by trimming down that fat gozanti and see where else I can spend my points. I may put in a tempest squadron along with vader just with accuracy corrector (cause I love the advanced, just so classic) and throw in some defenders for good measure.

I don't think my opponent will be playing with an epic ship so i completely agree with trimming the fat a little on the gozanti, freeing up room for more hard hitters.

Thanks again!

As you wish. Give a try to Assault Missiles. They are nasty and very good in a target rich environment.

Epic is better if both sides deploy at least one Epic Point. 250 pts is small enought to work fine with no Epic but Rebel Transport comes with good pilots and droids. Good reinforcements to a Rebel Fleet.

I would dock Mauler, Howlrunner, Scourge, and Youngster to begin the game. Fly the 2 Crack Shot Blacks Next to the Gozanti with Vader and Kath flanking from a different area. Vader should either be repositioning out of arc or taking a TL and an Evade every round. Kath can fire a couple devastating Homing Missiles then try to fly her closer to the Gozanti. When the Gozanti is in range deploy all four TIE's. Use Rage on at least the Crack Shot Blacks, Evade with Howlrunner and use Hux on Mauler, Scourge, and put the condition of either Kath if possible. Gozanti and Kath will let two of the Ragers clear both stress next round while Mauler and Scourge can shot 3 dice Snap Shots.

If you move up to 300 points (which is my favorite) I would toughen up the Gozanti a little bit and add a fairly loaded out Crack Shot Tomax Bren.

I would always put Automated Protocols on the Gozanti, if possible - you always want to be Reinforcing when in battle, plus eg target locking if you want to shoot things.

This is what Ive come up with so far...

Not sure if the Palpmobile is worth it in epic but my thoughts are that he'd fly around the board away from others to simply try and take an enemy ship out of the game as they'd want him dead pretty quick. Not sure if I should just swap out the palp mobile and tie shuttle for a decimator and beef it up a little.

Tie Shuttle would fly around handing out stress and harassing enemy ships.

Vader and Tempest or Black squadron would dock in the Gozanti. Vader and Tempest, Black Squadron and the two defenders would fly seperately flying in from different directions.

Turns out I'll be playing with a buddy so I'll put him in control of the defenders which I think are a little more forgiving due to a great stat line and also hard hitting.

And a question regarding docking in the gozanti... I'm guessing unique characters such as Vader could dock along with a generic tempest pilot? For some reason I thought this couldn't happen...

Double plus we did change it to 300 points...

If you can play al least on a 5x3 table. 3x3 can be very cramped. More square inches...more fun!

Yeah we're playing on our 6x3 mat...

Ship Total:

My thought behind palpmobile in Epic is that you have the points to grab a named pilot, so why not? Captain Kagi is almost always a good call, only failing really when you're right on points. But depending on your squad, Jendon and Yorr could be huge assets. If you can't afford them, I still maintain that Palpatine is good in Epic. Is he worth the points? That's a personal call, and somewhat dependent on your squad. In my experience, the answer is yes!

The Palpmobile is great in Epic. Whatever your opponent's game plan was, killing Palp always takes precedent so you can line up a very prickly gauntlet on the way to the shuttle (and always say, Yes... I can feel your hatred)

Just want to say a big thank you for all of you chipping in... managed to claim a victory. Palp went down fast but not with the expense of some of those rebel key players (corran horn, poe and han) biting the dust.... I was rolling quite well and the rest is history. Thanks again!
