Recyled Alpha Strike

By Jerval, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have a tournament coming up, and am looking to fine tune this list, not sure if i should toss in a little something more ( 4 lom or boba on bossk?), make them all PS9, keep a 1 pt. initiative bid, or something else entirely...your thoughts??

BOSSK RECYLED ALPHA

99 points

PILOTS

Bossk (43)
YV-666 (35), A Score to Settle (0), Homing Missiles (5), Zuckuss (1), Scavenger Crane (2), Guidance Chips (0)

N’Dru Suhlak (24)
Z-95 Headhunter (17), Cluster Missiles (4), Glitterstim (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Guidance Chips (0)

Kavil (32)
Y-Wing (24), Twin Laser Turret (6), Unhinged Astromech (1), Veteran Instincts (1)

The problem with this list is mechanical. Firing the first homing missile is largely dependent on matchup and your opponent's maneuvers. You should be able to control range enough to make it happen, but a lot of variables could deny you the opportunity. Then you need to maneuver a YV-666 to come around for another pass, while keeping at range to shoot the homing missile again. Missiles on a YV-666 are more of a, "I'll use this if I get a chance" kind of option. Most opponents will be focused on getting behind your winged space turd, where they can destroy it without much effort.

Also, if you're trying to fire Bossk's missile and N'dru's missile in the same round at the same target, then it probably comes at the expense of N'dru's pilot ability. To make that work you would have to flank with a Z-95, which makes him easy pickings.

On the other hand, flanking with N'dru could draw off the enemy, allowing Bossk to not only fire his missile, but to continue pursuit to launch the second...and maybe even a third, but that's pushing for all kinds of luck.

This is exactly what you should do. N'Dru should be set far opposite of Bossk and try to go trade for one of your opponents best ships. Let Kavil and Bossk take on the rest of the list. Maybe even set Bossk and Kavil up to bump each other the first round or two to slow roll Bossk as much as possible.
