Building a cheap Ibtisam

By Hexdot, in X-Wing

Back to casual and relaxing LGS play to simply have fun with another middle aged Star Wars fan with no intention to be a Pro Player. I want to fly Ibtisam B Wing because simply I love B Wings.

Ibtisam (28), Collision Detector (0), Wired (1), Bomb Loadout (0), Seismic Charges (2).

Total 31 Pts.

I have very little experience with wave 10.2. No expensive upgrades intended. Our aim is to play a couple of games twice a month avoiding Meta. After one long working day...Pew Pew.

Suggestions? 100/6 game. Give me a cheap Ibtisam as my main "Hero"

Bomb Loadout is Y-Wing only...

Honestly? If you're avoiding meta and not expecting to face strong meta lists, pretty much any ibitsam will be fine.

If you're expecting meta, the best ibitsam is no ibitsam at all. B wings are overcosted or under-good, one way or the other.

Also, Bomb Loadout is Y Wing only, you can't take it on a B wing.

Unfortunately Bomb Loadout is Y-wing only.

Ibitsam doesn't really need wired because being stressed gives him a reroll anyway. A better option would be something like Push the Limit which gives him a different bonus in return for a Stress Token.

I'd probably go for something like this. You can treat Ibitsam's ability as a "nice to have" when you happen to be stressed, but Stay on Target gives you a lot more control over when you get to be stressed, and makes the most of the B-Wing's dial. Rey lets you bank a focus token or two before the initial engagement, so you've got some extra dice modification in the bank for those turns you're stressed.

Ibtisam (28)
Stay On Target (2)
Collision Detector (0)
Rey (2)
B-Wing/E2 (1)

Total: 33

Stick Sabine on it ain the crew slot for Bomb shenanigans then extra munitions.

Then Enjoy!

Bomb Loadout and B Wings...ejeeeem... Thinking about X wing at work.

The "Stay on Target" plus "Rey" looks fine. 33 pts is not too expensive and is a good mix of one old upgrade plus a new crew member. I will try this. Thanks a lot

Wired (1)
Collision Detector (0)
Hera Syndulla (1)
B-Wing/E2 (1)

Just do any maneuver you want when you want and reroll dice on offense and defense. Maybe toss a tractor beam on him depending on your squad

I prefer Keyan Farlander if you're going to stress up a B-Wing because his ability is stronger, but you may not have Rebel Aces...

I own...perhaps too many ships. X Wing adiction hit me hard. Ibtisam this month... Another B Wing Hero next one.

The "Rey" plus "Stay on Target" configuration looks atractive to me because it is quite classic while we can enjoy Rey, quite new upgrade card. As said before "Stay on Target" is OK to choose when to give stress to Ibtisam. My new game pal is not new to X wing but only played first waves. A good way to see in action an interesting new crew option.

A few months ago I wrote in another thread that in my area the comunity is splitting between two types of players. Hard Core Pros and Casual X Wingers who simply play a game to have fun.

I stopped playing LGS games and restricted my game experience to my close group of friends playing at home. But I am returning to share experiences with casual players.

I'm a fan of Stay on Target and Sensor Jammer. More expensive but he stays alive a little longer. This would be really expensive but you could maybe do Hot-shot Copilot too? I think Hera might be best with Stay on Target though.

36 points

PILOTS

Ibtisam (36)
B-Wing (28), Sensor Jammer (4), Stay on Target (2), B-Wing/E2 (1), Hera Syndulla (1)

36 pts is a little too expensive. I am sure we will enjoy our little match. I will face a PTL Vader with the "new" ATC. My pal stopped playing X Wing before the Raider was released. He is excited with that "perhaps a little OP" Hero.

We both are cannon fodder against a Meta Pro...

A fun team is Ibtisam with Ellusiveness and Sensor Jammer and then any Wes, Ibtisam is rather absurdly tanks this way.

I agree. Too expensive for Hexdot, but it's a really fun build.

Another really expensive Ibtisam has her (female Mon Calamari, here, guys) loaded up with Push the Limit, Engine Upgrade, and you can add other upgrades to taste, like Sensor Jammer and Kyle Katarn crew (a whopping 8 more points!). Throw on Heavy Laser Cannon, too for 46 points! "She'll die before she tells you anything," but I've seen some stellar double B-wing-like squads in the past. Super silly.

Thank you for pointing out that she is a woman so I don't have to. For all the old EU talk here people don't know their Rogues ha ha.

Is 34 pts really over his limit? That is not that bad for Ib, she's in an expensive ship.

This is the correct answer. If you can spare 4 more points for Sensor Jammer, she really is a Fish Tankā„¢.

I two am interested in finding a cheap Ibtisam build, but alas I do not own Hera (or anything from the ghost). What other builds are there?

As it was intended, fun and exciting gameplay. We only played one game but it was OK. Rey gave me 2 Focus prior to Rock and Roll and "Stay on target" very handy. Only Vader was a better pilot that Ibtisam so quite good EPT for this game.

My opponent is starting to refresh his gaming skills. Tie FO with Comms Relay gave him good result and I am sure we will see more in a near future. Impressed by Juke. Not surprising, two players who left the game and are returning said the same.

Good and relaxing 70 minutes of gameplay plus 30 min speaking about the hobby. And as grown up kids with a credit card are really dangerous now I own my fourth ARC... and my pal half a dozen varied small ships to enlarge his fleet.

No guts to purchase a Raider without wife's OK...

Other than what's listed? She's not bad with a raw VI for some pilot skill. Sensors with that make her a competent knife fighter. Her big problem is Keyan has better offense and pilot skill for only a point more, making him slightly better. The only place Ib beats him is defense. Now another idea is a 32 pt Opprotunist Ibtisam. Not going to lie, Keyan does the job better, but if you like Ib, she can handle it. Just make sure she has a token stripping wingman. Like say, Wes. Honestly Wes is just her favorite wingman. Throw in Wedge for Rogue Squadron shenanagins:

Wes: R3-A2, VI, Integrated

Wedge: R2 Astro, Opprotunist, Integrated

Ibtisam: Opportunist, E2, Nien

used this a while back before swapping to Keyan, impressive damage, thematic, and good synergy. Doesn't hold well against swarms, but against bulkier lists, it's a nuisance. Biggest problem is you are vulnerable when Wes is gone, and he probably will die. You can swap Nien and E2 for FCS, I tried both, not sure which was better.

Got one test game in... horton was clearly the #1 target, Ib did decent, and Kyle spent like 5 rounds shooting at a 1 health, Console Fire'd Ryad before she finally burned to death- the dice were not on my side.

Long time ago  when I have been playing only casual games I have had a lot of fun playing ibtisam with ellusiveness(only 30pts). It was nice because she has low ps so someone shoot to her then she trigger ellusiveness and has stress so rerolls on both defense and offense. You can add rey or kyle katarn but it's not necessary. And of course I have been playing against tie /ln and tie adv maybe some decimator ;)
