Skirmish question, re: set/hero-villain pack rotation/retirement

By Spitty81, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Hi. I'm still new to the game so please forgive me if this question has been answered before.

I am curious about Fantasy Flight's approach when it comes to set/hero-villain pack rotation (i.e. game elements that are no longer legal for official tournaments); is there retirement at all and is it likely to happen in the foreseeable future?

I've just started building my IA collection and I'd hate to think I've wasted my money on things I won't be able to use in tournaments. I like playing competitively.

Thanks in advance.

Nope everything will stay legal for tourney use. Some of the older models aren't the most competitive but it looks like FFG is taking steps to improve this. The new IG88 attachment coming soon for example.

That's bloody good to hear! Personally I hate the idea of retirement. I've played games where things have been retired and they've not been good for much after that except gathering dust.

I hope FFG put out an attachment for Darth Vader; 18 points is too big of a chunk out of 40 points in a skirmish.

I'll be interested to see what they do with some of the other characters. The IG 88 upgrade doesn't make him cheaper it just makes him worth 12 points. They can't go too much cheaper on Vader but if they did something that made him a little more mobile at the cost of brutality I'd be really happy. Also a way to competitively run Han and Chewie together would be great.

I don't see a need for figure rotation, and nothing has been announced. If they do, I'm sure it'll start to take effect years from the announcement though.
