CC removing a squadron

By thanosazlin, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

If I am spending resource points can I do this

remove a scared xwing then spend the full amount of points for Luke to add him?

or am I never able to remove a ship or squadron until it goes into battle scarred and then dies and is removed ?

this came up tonight and we could t find anything in CC rule book to say yes or no

any help appreciated

It has to die, while scarred.

If you're having problems getting it dead, you can just fly it off the board, but the rule is it has to die.

Which is dumb and bad and I hate it, but them's the rules. That I plan to propose to house rule next time I play a CC...

i thought so thanks

I had a fresh 400pt Fleet vs my Opponents 480+ point Fleet, that had a Scarred Raider and a Scarred Interceptor that he wanted dead.

I refused to comply. Why should I help my opponent while he's relentlessly stomping me into the dirt? :D

Oh, not saying you as the opponent are wrong for not obliging him, at all. Just that I think it's silly that you should have to give up points in-game in order to replace units.

Losing out on the resources? Sure. I'm fully willing to eat the full resource points cost of the unit I'm replacing.

But giving the other guy combat credit when I want to mothball GR-75 is silly.

My Time in the Air Force basically goes: "You Requisitioned it. It was Delivered. You use it. You keep using it until its completely Unserviceable, and THEN, you get to Fill out the Paperwork to get a Replacement. Not Before. Not Because you don't want it..."

I mean, I remember the ADG Batallion being issued a bunch of Refurbished MKI F-88s two days before Supply started distributing the brand new MKIIs... But as far as Command was concerned, they requested F-88s, and F-88s were Delivered....

You don't get new things until the old are Unserviceable...

... Of course this meant the entire shipment was moved from On-Base Storage to Range Storage, and then a Range Storage hut was hit by an "mis-sighted artillery round" like, 6 weeks later...

Which is kind of like flying directly into an Asteroid...

Because the ISB is kind of "on point" when it comes to those Supply Things... "Destroyed in Battle" seems to be the only justification for getting Replacements....

And the Rebels, well, they can't afford to lose anything any other way.

No. I can easily DRMO my old **** without Al Qaeda getting combat experience.

Does it cost me money to replace? Yup. Hence, I'm totally willing to eat the cost of the old GR-75 that I don't want.

Do I have put my old PC on a C-130 to Afghanistan to get rid of it? No.

Like I said, just made sense to me, given my experience. Doesn't make it universally applied.

Neither of us served under the Empire or the Rebellion, so how things run are speculations anyway.

- House ruling it is cool, and may be appropriate for you and your group. But as stated, its a House Rule, as no formal rule is given. 'Nuff Said.

Crawlin' back in me hole.

I don't know, the way things are going right now I'm starting to wonder...

Han Solo: "Pirates are fun!"

My group ruled that you could pay the points cost to upgrade a squadron to an ace (e.g. paying 7 points to remove an x-wing and replace it with Luke's squadron, as if someone in the squadron just achieved ace status) but that's just a house rule

edit: this is the only circumstance we allow removing something that wasn't scarred then eliminated

WOW!!!! I never thought I'd see DRMO in this forum … weirdo! ;-)

I just pointed the things I wanted blown up at the biggest thing my opponent had and waited for ramming to take care of it for me.
I still had to fly an Arq straight off the table.

Thematically, I think this is justification enough for having to use the stuff you have. The Empire is stretched thin trying to cover all its bases (literally) and the rebels have cobbled together whatever fleet they can beg, borrow or steal.

I like the way the CC encourages different priorities in fleet building and makes you plan whether or not you really do want the thing that you're putting into your starter list to fill out points. It can make us fly less than perfect fleets, and if you're ahead and have so many resources that you're happy to throw some away to hone your fleet, then that's a little bit of a leveller between opponents.

Just fly it off the table. You can do this with squads too for extra fun!
