Can anyone convince me to fly Strikers at Yavin?

Defenders mostly. They have completely opposite playstyles (dive n thrive vs hit n run) and Defenders tend to draw more attention anyway, even though the 2 cheapo strikers tend to do more damage via positional bonuses and always getting their focus while the defender sometimes has to use it defensively.

One such list was 2 Trainee strikers with LWF+Title, Delta Defender w/ x7, and Ryad w/ x7 and Juke. Course Ryad got the attention because Ryad tends to do that and the other 3 3die ships just mopped up lol

I'm currently training Vess, Tomax and Sabacc squad for regionals and it seems to be decent. Hits hard and dies fast.

In my opinion, TIE Striker is delightful ship to fly. With ailerons you can show some crazy maneuvers. I second the build for Sabacc with VI, LWF and AA. It is cheap and throws 4 red dice at PS8 while still able to evade some hits. Oh, and the model is great!

I think this looks a strong list. I would love to squeeze another striker in but in the name of being competitive, this list would be perfect

I'd say fly based on what you want to get out of the event. If winning is key, then go for the meta list you're most comfortable with and aim for the second day. If you're happy with the participation prizes, fly a list you enjoy and are comfortable with.

I'm doing something in-between. My list isn't anywhere near top-level competitive, however, it is fun and different, so hopefully I'll enjoy it, and it may catch a few people out. If I spend all day on the lower tables it simply means I can relax and enjoy the flying without the pressure!

Maybe we'll meet each other across the battlefield :)

That looks like it could be an awesome list. I'm looking for a second squad to bring for the Docking Bay events. I think this one might be worth trying when there aren't any scary turrets on the other side.

I ended up loving the striker since first flying it. The things I think the striker have going for them besides value:

one of the best ships to fly around asteroids/debris while staying on target.

If its a mid PS pilot there is great control to avoid bumps and end up where you want

K turns and Sloops are easier to accomplish in tight quarters due to the bumps with AA before the K turns and sloops.

quick flankers to get behind non turret large ships.

Problem with the striker is TLT and turrets which still eat them up

Fly Upsilon plus Strikers and call the list "Flappy Birds."

Vessery / Tomax Bren / Pure Sabacc is tempting me. What was your set up on Vess and Sabacc if you don't mind me asking or is that a trade secret?? ;)

Alternatively an Imperial Trainee and Sabacc with Bren and a Scimitar bomber. I'd worry about the resilience of that list though.

I can't take credit for the list. I heard it on 512 Squadron Podcast but Vess has Expertise/Tie D/Tractor Beam/Mk 2 Ion Engines and Sabacc was really cheap, just trick shot for 0 points and the title. It hits like a truck but it has a few bad match-ups. Overall I really liked flying it!

Put them in your Hangar Bay.

I've yet to work out mine. Strikers might well be an option.

I want to do RAC/Kylo, but I still need a lot more practice with that list, AND it's a nightmare to transport.

I faced a Striker in the finals at Mustafar.

Fly what you like, fly what you're familiar with. If you're not having fun, why are you even playing?

I know some guys. They can be very convincing. If you do this thing, I won't have to send them to meet you.

Don't know if any of you read the 'Stay on the Leader' blog (it's really good), but there's a very good article on snap shot A-wings up today. I've sort of been thinking about some snap shot Strikers off the back of it but they are a tricky price point. Either way, I'm definitely going to fly Strikers at Yavin. To hell with the consequences

Sabbac with Snap is good. His ability makes it a 3 dice attack.

Putting finishing touches on dormitz with hyperwave and three strikers.

Starting them in the middle of the board plus the crazy speed puts all of them on target the first turn. Throws a disgusting amount of red at something on turn one then get squirrelly to finish what still standing.

Ailerons gets you where you need to be. It's so much fun.

This topic makes me happy. I almost want to run out and buy 4 more strikers! Scratch that - I really do want to, I just can't afford it right now. Maybe some day soon. I'm a huge fan of Alpha Squadron Pilots, and my Imperial Trainee is even more fun!

It's been fun hearing all these ideas! At the moment I'm testing the three named strikers plus a TIE Shuttle support OR three generic Strikers with a heavy ace (x7, Whisper, Vader).

One of those lists will be my Yavin list. Turrets are the big problem so I think that 4th ship need to be a turret killer

Not even the Empire flew Strikers at Yavin.

Sure, but also they lost.

Maybe, not enough Strikers?

Fly Strikers.

Was i convincing?

*wave of hand* you want to fly strikers at yavin

Flown five Scariff Defenders my last two times out on Vassal. Fun but not enough to make me run out and buy three more Strikers. Fun list if you enjoy flying, planning, and throwing lots of red dice. It is the exact opposite of what you want in a tourney list though. Ailerons is going to tie your brain i a knot by round 4 and dice variance is just massive.
