New week New Monday maybe New News?

By jek, in Runewars Miniatures Game

So here's hoping we get some new info today on the game. They still said we would get a Lore update but now knowing there is 30+pages of lore stuff in the box I'm hoping that we get information on some other expansions or rules or something...

I've got my fingers crossed for some kind of news today.

I'm hoping for some news about more expansions or some idea about more factions that are coming. maybe some spoilers about the second heroes for both factions, I want more list building potential. because right now Kari wraithstalker feels weird since she can't use her list building ability. I keep putting her in my spearmen groups.
full text for wraith step would also be fun.

Lore article is up.

sigh, lore...It's cool but with the news of a guide I was hoping for more game info. :-(

It's interesting to see what changed and what remained the same. It seems a lot darker than previous entries into the lore, which contrasts with the "vibrant fantasy world" picture that FFG has been painting.

I was always under the impression that the shard of the Orb of the Sky is what gave power to Waiqar's curse and allowed him to transform him and his men into an undying horde. In this version, it seems almost coincidental that he held the shard in his hand. Maybe that was still the key to his curse? Where did he get the knowledge of necromancy?

Another intriguing part was that we now know that Waiqar is not a traditional skeletal undead individual. It seems like he is more of an immortal individual who maintains his fleshy appearance.

Yeah. We got some new details on the story and a few minor changes from previous iterations, but for the most part, this isn't "news" at all, since we could read this story in the Runewars boardgame manual.

pfff that was a worthless article. This is not what I wanted, a lot of people have a ton of questions about the mechanics and expansions and all we get was lore.
I'm pretty sure the lack of real info will turn people off. Runebound games aren't games you play for the lore, this isn't LotR and some snippits aren't going to hype me or other players at my flgs.

one more brake on the hype train after all....

They even mention that this "arcticle" is taken from the lore book meaning they wrote a whole 2 seconds for this "news post"

Sorry, I'm just salty and next week or knowing FFG in 2 weeks we'll get another worthless post about the lords of daqan....

They've gotta spread stuff out over a few weeks yet guys. Give them a break. Good grief. Shameful.

Oh my.... no.... two weeks for peanuts... thank you FFG. You had clearly nothing to tell us today ? I mean... do you read your forums ? Don't you know that we had a great piece of info with that unboxing article our french friend posted on his blog ? No ? dad didn't give you the idea to post the rules or so ? Ok have a good week then.... Still i'll read that article when i've got time, it's about undeads after all.... What paintings will I use for my Ardus Ix'Erebus, now ? hmmm...

Wow.

Rules will be up a week or two before release. No sooner. As per ffg standard.

Well then, let place my positive spin on things. For one thing, I actually don't want to be spoiled too much on the new lore, so I'm glad that of the whole lore book, they chose to tell the story we already know.

I really do find the lore of Terrinoth exciting. One thing that has me really intrigued is the mention of these heroes. Daqan, Waiqar, and Timorran I know, but Grumson and Triamlavar? Who are they?

I'm excited to find out that even though the Uthuk Y'llan and Latari Elves are not included at release, they will still play a major role in the lore book.

I would have prefered them wait a bit so the stream of info would at least be more consistent in building hype.

This I do not mind as much because I think almost 80% of the rules are already out there, if I find some time I will most likely do a write up of the rules as I understand them so far.

Thank you. At least someone is being positive. If this is indicative of the community for the game I might have to reconsider whether to join it or not.

Anyway I would say Grumson is a Dwarf and Triamlavar an Elf but that's just a guess based on the names.

Explosive, I guess people really want this game.
Grumson might be a barbarian tied the Uthuk Y'llan!

Seems like a decent guess to me. Because 4 names were mentioned, I was tempted to think that each one corresponded to one of the 4 factions, but since Llovar was the one who started the Uthuk Y'llan, it wouldn't make sense for Grumson to be an Uthuk, unless he becomes a traitor later on. But we know (I think?) that dwarves fought in the first great darkness, so it makes sense for Grumson to be a dwarf.

I liked the article because I know next to nothing about the lore behind Terrinoth and I personally always liked games that hav a healthy dose of lore. I can understamd that people want to know more about the game but we know pretty much already, I do want to know more about the wizards and how magic is going to work but i can wait for that.

Couldnt agree more, people need to chill just a bit.

Alright, so I liked the article pretty much for the same reason as @Iceeagle85, my disappointment isn't really disappointment, just mild wah me since I pretty much assumed this is what we would get. I'm not sure why there is so much anger/rage at it because that seems a bit extreme for preview articles. I feel that the idea that the people playing this game don't care about the lore is misplaces since there is regular talk on these here forums about the lore and world...so saying it's not LoTR so we don't need lore is a bit of an incorrect assumption. I'm hoping in the next few weeks we do get to see some more expansions and maybe the choice that they made with the Lore is a preview to the faction heroes since, the waiqar hero that they showed at gencon is (I think) Waiqar. Maybe next weeks lore post will be about Daqaan Lords and Lord Hawthorne...

It was Vorakesh, not Waiqar. We haven't seen Waiqar in-game before; we just see his influence. I have a feeling that this game may change that. Now that we know more about Waiqar, maybe he will be a figure eventually, along with other historical figures. Daqan was a mighty king who went missing. Even though he should be dead by now, the barons of Terrinoth still refuse to take up the mantle of king because they fear Daqan will one day return. It would be neat if this new age of war ushers in the return of King Daqan and we get him on the table along with Waiqar. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure Llovar Rotuuno is dead, so we won't be seeing him lead the Uthuk, unless there are some demon-worshipping shenanigans that can bring him back from the Ynfernael pits to fight again. Now that I write that out, that would be pretty cool!
