Mon Karren / Intel / Quad TC / H9

By Slugrage, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

So, if I were to bring an M80 Liberty Battle Cruiser with Intel Officer, Quad Turbolaser Cannon and H9 Turbolasers, does this combo work the way I'm plotting it?

Roll attack pool
Presume to roll at least one red <hit> or <crit>
Adjust one red die from <hit> or <crit> to <accuracy> - from H9
Add one red <accuracy> result as there's a red die with an <accuracy> result from the H9 - from QTC
Presuming target only has 3 defense tokens, pick Accuracy Token One and Two as accuracy effects
Use Intel Officer to target Accuracy Token Three so if they use it, they lose it.

I realize that Token One or Two could still be used if the target ship has ECM.

Yes it does.

From the fact that you put it in the title but didn't include it in the post, I suspect that you already realized this, but:

Mon Karren does nothing for you in this situation unless the target did in fact bring ECM.

The attack sequence is:

1) Choose a Target.

2) Roll dice.

3) Resolve attack effects (ie modify dice and apply accuracy).

4) Spend defense tokens.

5) Resolve Damage.

Note that Intel Officer comes after rolling your attack pool (and "after" means immediately after). Thus, you have to choose which defense token to target with Intel Officer before you modify dice with H9 or Quad Turbolaser Cannons. This isn't super important for this question because you end up with 2 accuracy and the pseudo-accuracy of Intel Officer, but the timing can be important in other cases.

Run XI7s and Quad Turbolaser Cannons with sensor teams instead, no point in sacrificing a damage to lock down defenses...

Or if you wanna have some real fun, use the star cruiser, run X-17s, spinal arms, sw-7s, gunnery teams, intel officers, nav teams and Sato.

Assuming you can get fighters in range, which is easy enough, Sato will let you trade out dice, take your nav token early so you have it when you need it and run confires, so your attacks will look like this, 4 blue 4 red changes to 6 blue 2 red with sato, roll your dice, and add a blue for your con fire, no matter what you rolled, you have a minimum of 7 damage to a maximum of 11, they can only redirct 1 point with XI7s and Mon Karren only lets them use one defense token so if you intel officer their brace It's gone. Plus with gunnery teams, you can pop two ships with that.

Easy way to slag any ISD.... lose that brace early.

That, @Darth Sanguis , is downright evil. I love it!

It's quite mean, of course, if you REALLY wanted to mess with 'em, you could have a Neb-B with yavaris and tallon relay Nym to attack it first so by the time it got to your Liberty it had no defenses.... buuuuut no one wants to be that mean lol

It's also 132 points on a single ship with questionable defensive capabilities. Liberty is a double-edged sword.

Can you run the gunnery teams since the sensor team is a weapon team upgrade?

Different builds. Sensor team suggestion was just to build upon OP's original idea, the other is what I'd run.

that's nasty, although my Liberties tend to die an horrible and quick death to pretty much anything...

Yeah, I haven't run a liberty since their release. I played maybe 6 matches with various builds and the lack of a defensive slot for ECMs and the laughable shield ratings on the sides killed it for me. If I want to use an ISD I'll just run an ISD lol

yeah. But, I like the synergy of your combo. I'll definitely try to use something similar on a different ship.

I'm an sw-7 fiend. I love anything that takes the guesswork out of my shots lol, screed, TRC, sw-7s, Maarek/Jendon lol anything that says, yeah, you got the hit.
