Omega Leader - Modification

By 5094shane, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi folks, we have discussed Omega leader before but played some games on the weekend and people were disagreeing on what is classified as a modification. Two questions:

- Is Lattz Razzi a modification

- is an evade token a modification

Using an evade token is a modification (as it literally adds an evade die result to your roll).

Latts Razzi pilot effect is not a modification and would work on Omega Leader.

Effects that increase the amount of die rolled before attscking/defending are not modifications.

For reference, the below only are modifications:

Modifying Dice

Players can modify dice by spending focus, evade, and target lock tokens and by resolving card abilities. Dice can be modified in the following ways:

  • Add: To add a die result, place an unused die displaying the result next to the rolled dice. A die added in this way is treated as a normal die for all purposes and can be modified and canceled.
  • Change: To change a die result, rotate the die so that its faceup side displays the new result.
  • Reroll : To reroll a die result, pick up the die and roll it again.
  • Dice can be modified by multiple effects, but a die cannot be rerolled more than once

Hope that helps.

The Crew version of Latts Razzi, per the above rules, is a modification.

Latts Razzi (pilot) = no, because spending the target lock is altering the number of dice to be rolled. Also, the act of spending that target lock is not a modification because it's not being used for the purpose of a reroll.

Latts Razzi (crew) = yes, because Latts is adding an evade result to the dice pool, so as Goseki1 states, it is a modification.

An evade token is adding an evade result to the dice pool, so it is also a modification.

And it does not matter whose dice are being modified (attacker's or defender's) because Omega Leader blocks any dice modifications.

Another reason why I love running latts (pilot) in my scum build lately.

Rule of thumb: if its not instructing you to roll an additional dice or cancel a dice, its modifying dice. Cancelling is different...because reasons (no idea why its not mods) and rolling additional dice isnt mods because otherwise OL would deny range bonuses and obstructions and thats just retarded lol.

Cancelling isn't mods because cancelling is how evade dice block attack dice. If cancelling was mods, OL would ignore defences entirely and lol.

Sign me up. I've got OL in two lists. This is the buff, not that we deserve, or that we need, but would make me happy.
