Assigning a straight maneuver to a Shaken Pilot

So just to know - WITHOUT clarification from FFG - How would you handle a Shaken Pilot situation with someone revealing a straight maneuver?

Would you allow the opponent to select the dial or force a 2 straight?

I am assume it is the opponent selection, but want to see what the consensus here is.

The 2 straight manoeuvre is specific to the red/stressed ruling, so I don't think it should be used for anything other than a red/stressed situation.

If a player forgets (or even deliberately "forgets") to place a dial, then the ship doesn't move and gets no actions, as per the FAQ. (Side note: if this happens often during a game, then call a TO or judge)

The closest ruling we currently have would be the other two options (wrong dial or illegal dial) where a manoeuvre has been planned but is illegal and in both those cases, the opponent chooses the ship's manoeuvre. Personally, I think this is the precedent we should use for a straight/Shaken Pilot situation. However, if the opponent disagrees (because there's no specific rule), then a TO or judge must be called to rule.

That's not what the FAQ says to do:

FAQ, pg. 5:
'If a player forgets to place a maneuver dial next to a ship, but tells his
opponent he is ready to begin the round, once play has proceeded to
the first ship (a dial has been revealed, a maneuver has been executed,
etc.), he may no longer place a dial. Instead, when that ship activates, the
player’s opponent chooses the maneuver that ship will perform. No actions
may be taken before this maneuver, but play proceeds normally after the
maneuver has been executed.'

@WWHSD good catch :)

This actually happened this past weekend at the naboo systems open. The last game of the day on camera. The Marshall (not judge) ruling was that if you had shaken pilot and did a straight you handed your dial over. In which case he 2 hard the ghost off the map.

And this is supported by the latest FAQ.
