First attempt at staining movement templates.

By TGO, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

This was my first attempt at staining some wood templates. Would love some feedback good or bad.

At my local store I won our last league and the prize was a set of wooden movement templates. They were bare wood when I got them and were kinda rough and would stick to the playmat.

I started out by sanding them with a high grit sand paper. I then stained them with two coats of stains. After they dried I sanded them with a 400 grit sand paper to distress them. The next step is a clear coat of polyurethane.

Not too shabby.

If it was me I might use an acrylic paint to bring back the markings. Something in a soft off-white. To make them pop against the wood color. Then seal em up.

But that's just me. Nothing wrong with how it sits now.

That crossed my mind as well. I'm going to wait a few days before I seal them and think about it.
