timing, pit and fly

By Lord Loren Soth, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

hello, we are currently playing RTL and a question arose

the timing and the carried by tjhe air feat card, can the hero declare a battle and then play carried by the air(start turn card +2 speed + fly)? when over a pit in a dungeon can he fly down and land on the pit without taking damage?

let us know asap thanks

you dont fly INTO a pit. you fly over a pit.

no, but you can play carried by air and then declare an battle action.

I assume the pit question was about what happens if you have Fly, end your movement in a pit square, and then lose Fly (when the feat expires). The damage from a pit occurs when you enter a pit space (from a non-pit space), so if you have Fly when you enter the square, you don't take damage.

Note that Carried by Air gives +2 speed, not +2 movement points, so if you declare a Battle action, you would only benefit from the Fly part. Contrariwise, if you declare a Run action, you get to move twice your speed, so you'll benefit from the speed bonus twice.

but declaring a battle give you 0 movement points so how they interact?

What is 'speed' in Descent?

as stated above from anistone: you get nothing.

speed is the amount of movementpoints a charakter receives by declaring everything except battle.

Not true. A Run action gives movement points equal to twice speed, and a Ready action can give either movement points equal to speed or no movement points.

There are also some special situations in which speed is used for other things (e.g. the Knight skill) or where a hero receives movement points that are independent of his speed (e.g. the Ring of Quickness).

you get the point, nitpicker. everyone should be able to read the manual..
