Maryland Regional is Going to be Insane

Talking with the TO, it seems like Armada participation is flaky at this point. People definitely play but he gave the impression that tournaments only have 6 people show up. With a history like that I can kind of understand the lead foot on supporting a tourney. That's not an excuse but past experience is generally what businesses forecast on (they did pre sell out of tickets so who knows what happened).

That being aside, G&S is about as far south as I can go reliably so I intend to start dragging 4-5 people to their tournaments and yelling at toy ships until that can't ignore me anymore.

Matt and I had this discussion actually. If he's not personally involved (keep in mind, he's an unpaid volunteer), they don't get the word out. When I got word they were having a tournament the month before Regionals (which Matt advertised), I got it over into NOVA Fleet and there were eight people there with only about a week and a half notice. It's flaky attendance because they're flaky at advertising.

Is lack of advertising like a Maryland thing? I swear every brick and mortar shop in the state can't figure out how to even do facebook invite in a timely fashion...

LOL. Can't speak for other stores, but for G&S I think it's just honestly that they have a hundred things going on at any given time. As you saw, even during the Armada Regionals, they were simultaneously running a Guild Ball tournament of around 30 people or so. The last time I had an Armada tournament, we were sharing the hall with a 40k tournament and a Pokeman tournament. Every time I've been there, it's like that. Great for business.

the fact that they just hosted the largest Armada Regional in the world

I'm going by Shmitty's data. I'm not invested in it needing to be so. Just trying to be factual. Next biggest I see for the season was Georgia at 32.

I was under the impression it was the largest as well. Which regional was larger?

They have a great facility to play at, and I go there at least once a month or so to play (weekday). Their biggest problem is they don't advertise WHEN they are having store events. Even asking them one time it was "Oh yeah, we have them I guess".

What is amusing is that the winner is very new to the became. This was his second regional.

I do know for a fact he has pedigree which the flesh star destroyer would find interesting. Not mine to share though.

Battle report in the forum

Yeah yeah, but your entire nation can drive to the regional in a couple hours! :D

The United Kingdom? But I mean, if we restrict it to Wales then... what... less than an hour? :D

Cardiff to the town my dad grew up in is 2 hrs 40 min, and it's only halfway across Wales.

Cymru am byth!

If it wasn't obvious, I was just teasing. I know where Cardiff is and I understand the UK takes more than 2 hours to drive across. :P

You can tell it is Welsh through the distinct lack of vowels...

Yes Ma22a did come down and I beat him as you requested. Though it was a close and good match in the end.
