In Quebec City alone we regularly fill our 8 available spots. I think we could jump to 12 and still fill the places. I don't know about the Montreal scene though.

That is fanfantas! I was considering going, but family commitments take precedents. Plus, I have not played enough wave 5 games...it probably wouldn't have ended well for me.

Looks like G&S is backpedaling a bit. They're talking about cutting down the number of rounds, which given it is a one day event is understandable.

The recent Welsh regional ran FIVE games in one day (which I believe is a bit naughty). Guys I know drove 4 hours there, played their 5 games, and drove 4 hours back (that may not seem like a lot to out transatlantic cousins but 4 hours can get you almost half a country away in good traffic, and this was technically another country).

Just an update. The tournament organizer has stated they will not be running 5 rounds and will instead be doing 4 rounds with a cut for top 2. Not sure if that's allowed, but that's what is being said.

Jeff is worried about having to keep staff at the store for 5 rounds plus a cut. I proposed another idea to him, namely to do 5 rounds on Saturday since the staff has to be there that long anyway, and have the top 2 either come back Sunday or leave it be. We'll see what he thinks. 4 rounds and a cut is enough IMO, but if someone wants to make a sink they have grounds within the tournament rules.

I think anyone who wants to make a stink about this is being selfish and unsympathetic to the people who work there and the people who are traveling 3+ hours to get there (I personally know of at least 6-8 that making the trip). 4 games is a good enough distribution of games that one bad game wont knock you out. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
