Upsilon repaints

By Toimu, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Large area to work with and too much black (IMO). My idea...

Salvaged Upsilon-class shuttle

Base: Primer then non-reflective black. The blocky details on the top & bottom of the wings painted 3 different shades of grey (patch quilt style) with the black showing between. A few spots of rust here and there.

Right wing: cut in half, add 4 large bulky parts from other ships (1 on top, 2 on bottom, & 1 on the end). Each add-on has a different paint scheme.

Left wing: 3 large holes leaving the super structure visible. A few short, very thin antennas (for sensors) sticking out randomly.

Fuselage: stick with the 3 tone grey patch quilt style paint job (no red block on the nose). Change to 1 large rectangular engine exhaust (instead of 2 small circular ones).

Anyone done a repaint yet?

It's a VIP ship. Even if it's smaller than the old empire, the First Order keeps their wargear in tip top shape. I agree on to much black though. Perhaps something more utilitarian in some north Atlantic battleship grays, or some of the colors in the space wolf range with a big FO red emblem.

Dazzle Camouflage. I'll do mine that way eventually.

I agree with @IronOx: You should keep it pristine. And, personally, I'd really like to see the ship as FFG originally displayed it. It's much brighter and you should actually see the details. Even that could be lightened up a couple shades, I feel.
