Casual game night, crowd picks

By Darth Sanguis, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I made two fleets, both using my ISD II with avenger to deal maximum damage to defenders who's defense tokens are already spent. One is focused around using a swift bomber ball to lower defenses but relies heavily on small ships and the relay ability of Jendon. The other uses a VSD II to Overload pulse the opponent and runs a small fighter screen with 2 gozantis to JF anti squad attacks

It's game night and I'm having a hard time choosing my poison, what do you think?

OLP + Avenger are fun but difficult to achieve. Enemies know what you are trying to do and will try to foil it. You have to activate in a certain order for it to work. You can sometimes use this to your advantage and just ignore the combo on certain turns. Have a look at the suppressor title on one of your flotillas. Exhausting a brace on a VSD, ISD, MC80A/C or AF-II can even get round the ECM when you then hit it with Avengers front arc.

I like Kallus on Avenger as it also works against a fighter's red defence tokens. Some of your TIEs can attack to get a scatter token to be spent then avenger adds 2 blue and a black onto squadrons like Tycho, Mauler or Sontir Fel. Leading shots can also be used against squadrons if you completely miss and just spending a Blue accuracy you don't need to reroll other blue accuracies and any red dice you don't like may be better than the SW7s.

Avenger Pulse Tap is what I've been running since wave 2 released, to say I'm experienced with it is an understatement to say the least. lol In all honesty, there have only been a few occasions where my PT fleet hasn't worked. The wave 2 version was weak to fighters and lacked a good activation count, wave 4 was okay, with the gozantis I was able to fill a gap, wave 5 versions I think are almost perfect.

My squad heavy fleet is running suppressor on the BCC flotilla and is backed with tua and ECMs, for a chuckle.

My Avenger is designed specifically to guarantee damage, giving up Needa for kallus kills 2 points off my minimum damage output, not worth the trade in my book. Same goes with sw-7s, Based on my play style, I typically have con fires once I'm in range, those are always blue on my avenger, free damage. This build can guarantee a minimum of 8 damage on a confire. If my PT was a success, which I can achieve 80% of the time that will sink any republic ship medium class or smaller.

I wasn't really looking to change these fleets, I'm experienced with both and am more than confident in their ability, just having difficulty choosing between ships or squads...
