Millennium Falcon/Kanan timing

By Keoki, in X-Wing

The new Millennium Falcon card lets you rotate your ship after performing a 3 bank maneuver. Then you get a stress.

The Kanan Jarrus crew card lets you relieve a stress after a white maneuver.

Since both getting the stress and relieving the stress happen in the same timing window, "after the maneuver," can you choose in which order to perform them? That is, maneuver, get stress, then relieve it?

The owning player gets to choose the order of resolution so yes, you can end up Stress-free with Kanan.

This means you can turn around with Falcon to gain stress, then remove it with Kanan.

It also means that if you're already stressed you can remove the stress with Kanan THEN turn around and add a stress token back. It works both ways.

The more I play with Rey, whom I love to play with, the more the standard Rey build feels broken. Not meta-defining broken, but Defenders constant K-turn kind of broken. Even if you can, and do, block the constant slooping, it's not that big of a deal to Rey, she'll just get you next turn. You really need to have a 1-2 punch against her, but that counter punch is still going to eat her 360 turret.

Yup, totally agree and I say as someone who's current favorite build is Poe/Rey

She's definitely not that because she dies so easily. She's a glass cannon.

Rey is hot. She's soloed so many games for me. Still having a hard time figuring out her wingmate.

She is a glass canon, and maybe not competitive at a high level, but at a local level, she's scary as hell and frustrating to play against (from what my opponents tell me).

Consider not a single ace, but rather a bunch of efficient blockers. I've had a lot of success with two Prototype A's and a Bandit with Expertise Rey. I could block to keep opponents off Rey and strapped for actions. I could also self-bump Rey to keep her in arc for Expertise. I'm going to try a new variant of that with the newly acquired Sabine's TIE, thinking Rex's presence might make him a good target and take some shots off Rey. Those guys are out there to die, after all.

Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
Finn (5)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Millennium Falcon (TFA) (1)

Captain Rex (14)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Total: 100

There is some merit to what you say but, as always, it's in how you fly her as part of a list. Sure, 1 defense die sucks but if flying her with Finn and if flying her properly, there's a good chance she has 2.

As for the cannon part - being able to deliver up to 5 hits at range 1 is certainly a cannon, no argument from me ;)

No idea if this is really competitive at tourney level but as the poster above me said, she's great fun at a local level.

Fly her with Rex and Biggs. They come in at 40 points which leaves 60 for a decent VI Rey. Keeping Biggs near her on the initial Joust is easy enough although gets harder once she starts slooping. But that is OK, as long at Rex and Biggs keep close to each other, you can ensure that Rex can penalise your opponent's firepower for several turns while Rey wears him down.

great idea, I might have to give that a go :)

Ditto. :)

Rey flies with Norra - two dangerous targets that you don't want left in the end game.

And no, she's not broken, and certainly not defender level. Considering that 1 green dice, she only work in arc and melts far faster than a defender.

Rey's build is VI, EU, Finn, Kanan, Sloop. Keep people in arc, lefts you escape, free sloops and push the damage through. More turrets appearing at the moment though which is beginning to limit her.

Took Rey/Norra to top 8 at a 130+ regional, so it's about the only thing in X-wing I'm fairly confident of. (Also came solid last in a small 12 man, so there's that!)

How does Rey/Norra fly? I've only flown it once, was a pretty quick win, but Norra didn't do much.

Rey has made top tables at tournaments. She's good for sure. Expertise also makes her more tanky because that focus has been a problem for her.

I wouldn't call Rey a glass cannon. Sure she is not as durable as Chewbacca or the Fat Han builds (because Han can shoot first) but her pilot ability often likes to put her in "jousts" thus you are in the counter-intuitive position to always putting her in harms way. Also with jousting while one on one it is good but in the opening bout you are never one on one. Which is why if you decide to open up with Fen heading head first for the fight, he might kill Soontir and take no damage. But the three other ships who's firing arcs also overlapping you will tear you apart. no matter how good the pilot ability or how high the hit points, 1 vs 3 is never a good set up, and you can't count on green dice to bail you out.

In the lone tournament I've been to, a local store one, that focus for defense played a key role in my last match.

Makes her too expensive as well.

Norra needs to come in a little slower, but she's really there to draw fire - with R2 and 3PO she can take a pounding and keep on going. Anything to pull fire from Rey. And if not, Norra can lob a 5 dice attack as well.

Is that 5-dice attack assuming range 1 plus her spending her target lock to add a focus?

That's how it's been done to me in the past, yes. Feels a bit like a prison shower scene...

Anyone calling Rey a "glass cannon" is someone who just hasn't figured out how to play her properly yet. She can actually be pretty tanky with the right upgrades, you just need to have a good wingman/wingwoman for her.

Agreed, the 1 agility is misleading. I enjoy taking her out for a spin with Poe, who is your favorite datenight companion?
