I had a chance to talk to Calen about it. It is a weird combination of damage over time and alpha strike. It can drop 6 dice on a range one attack, which, as Calen notes laconically, is just about enough dice needed to deal 1 or 2 damage to Fenn or a Defender. And if you aren't using the primary dice attack, you are going to get four TLT shots per round (once in the combat phase and once in the end of combat phase).

It's a mean list, very representative of modern X-Wing.

I've been playing this list for 3 weeks now. I think the build is amazing.
Usually the opponent is expecting to face a defensive kanan, you easily surprise him when you make the first 6 dice shot at range 1. After seeing how easy is for that list to land a 6 dice attack, they tend to panic and run away... and then you start shooting 4 TLT shots per turn.

Yeah, I came up against that list at Yavin. It was a painful experience.

Game went to time. I think Blair also lost a B-wing, but both Assaj and Manaroo were half points.

Yeah I would have done the same. The nights spent flying fun casual lists are what keeps me coming back. Not every game has not be super competitive meta. I flew 3 X-wings today...and won!

That's one to remember. I sure wouldn't bring it to casual night. Unless someone specifically asked me to run it. I've kept it for tournaments (#2, twice...) and torturing my son

I'd say it's not as cruel as bringing Dengaroo to casual nights though. I had to stop said son from doing that this week. Paratanni is super efficient, but at least you're not messing with the other player's dice on top of it!

Ya I think I am pretty much done with competitive Xwing due to similar circumstances. Even in vassal league half my division is flying strictly parattanni and I have no desire to set up times for my remaining games because of it. Think I'm starting to realize that the part of the game I like (building lists and testing them out) just isn't compatible with the competitive environment like it used to be. Either that, or I have fallen off a cliff and lost every competitive skill I may have previously had (also totally possible). Due to that I'm thinking its time for me to look elsewhere for my competitive fix. Wish Destiny had product so I could give it a go, lol.

Is there a reason for any Imperial going to a System Open not to put Carnor Jax in a list? Aside from being generally good, it's one of the ships that really attacks both Parattanni, x7 Defenders, and to a lesser degree Dengaroo.

Yeah it makes sense, but he is so extremely squishy. Getting shot with 6 dice attacks, even with Palp and focus evade, hard to survive.
