Btw sorry, that came out incredibly dickish. Just annoyed a bit by people panicking over the "return of the overpowered, unbeatable, jumpmaster plague" at the moment yelling about how FFG f*cked the game with the new FAQ.

Not so much the new FAQs fault as they never actually bothered to really fix the underlying problem with the J5K.

Congratulations pheaver on the System open win! Thanks for getting the Good Guys on the board!

Which is why they are still very good and people took them to these tournaments now that they have a chance to for example deny Defenders tokens by blocking them. I do agree that the cost is too low for the Scouts.

It's not just scouts it's the JM5K instead of FAQing every upgrade they can take add 2 points to the chassis.

Oh and way to go Pheaver!

Nerf pheaver?

Seriously, though, great job for him! I look forward to hearing the details on the NOVA podcast since there was no stream.

Seems like triple jumps are back with a vengeance.

Yup. Meant the ship, not just the Contracted Scout pilot.
I'd give it time. See if new counter-jm5k lists take over the meta during Worlds.

Edit: Heaver needs to take 2 crew slots and be required to play two games at once.

Tweaking text is one thing, but FFG seems to be very determined against changing numerical values. Even going back to the Phantom nerf, they chose to change the way Cloaking worked rather than drop the ship to a 3-attack, as a number of people called for at the time.

I have to assume that the reason for this is that a player can show up to a tourney with a squad and be informed that their upgrade doesn't work exactly like it says on the card. However, they can't show up with a 100-point list and learn that it's actually 106 points now because their Jumpmasters were bumped up in cost.

Thats true, The J5k is just too **** cheap for its statline, has an EPT on the No name pilot where it should not, and also has an insane Dial that makes it incredibly hard to avoid getting torps off.

I am a bit worried about Empire though. I detest all the whining (Wh)imps on the forum with a passion, that would go on with their litanies about Regen and Turrets and the need to simply invent new lists for Rebels to git gud. When Rebels had nothing in the top 16 of many tournaments.

But now, Imps are in that situation. I think they will need to take out palpy again, even if he is a little less good now, but at least that stopped U-boats from complete domination last time. The only list in 2 Opens that made the cut was Triple Crackshot Defenders. That's really a bad portent. I don't hope that this will go on, because i like X-Wing REALLY balanced, not only when my favorite faction is strongest at the moment.

Congratulations to Paul and Jesus!

The Carolina Krayts recorded every round after round 3

I've been running 3x Mindlinked Contracted Scouts since last summer and made the cut at each of the regionals I took them too. It has always been a really good list but just flew under the radar while everyone was figuring out how good Mindlink really is. The cat's out of the bag now. That said, they still have weaknesses and can be countered. They struggle against higher PS swarms < cough> crackswarm </ cough> , or anything that can out PS them and hit hard since they can't reliably get the alpha strike off in the opening engagement. I think the meta will adapt and hopefully we won't need another nerf (either on the chasis or Mindlink). I think we really are in a much better spot with Manroo/Zuckuss/Palp/Defenders taken down a notch.

I really wonder if Scum is so prevalent because everyone's trying to get enough damage to hit Defenders.

I know for sure for myself that that's primary concern.

Agreed. Mindlink scouts have been big for a while in my scene, and from my experience they are even more vulnerable to crackswarms than the post-nerf scouts were. Not being able to fire torpedoes on the opening turn on Howlrunner is tough, as are those Academy TIE blockers if you bring a Patiswarm or varient thereof.

The entire reason you run mindlink is it IS possible to fire 1-2 torpedoes on the opening turn if you fly it right

No imps in the top 25? Yikes.

I wonder how many people even brought Imperial squads. Did people just decide to play it safe and bail on bringing squads with Palp and X7 until the dust from Erratageddon 2017 settled?

At naboo there were a good number of imperial plays. I would guess I saw more imperial than rebels. The x7 nerf was fair and makes defenders still worth playing. Day 2 to saw a large number of defender lists.

For sure, it is certainly possible. This doesn't mean that it's easy. I mean, it was a lot easier when all they had to do was focus and wait for Howl to fly into range, now you've got to get past 3 academy blockers before you can even attempt the lock.

I've always wondered why more people don't use K4 with Attanni jumps. You don't care about getting blocked that way, you don't have to set up a lock with a focus token you may or may not have, either from being shot at or something like HotCop and all you really lose is Intel Agent, which could surely be compensated for with good play. I mean, do you really need 3 Intel agents to know EXACTLY where your opponent is going when you have 3 large base ships with barrel roll?

Nah, screw those players, just fix the card that actually needs fixing instead of literally everything else.*

This but unironically. It's not like there aren't lists that you can't run right now if you buy the cards out of the box - deadeye hasn't been reprinted yet after all.

If you're playing casually, it doesn't matter. If you're playing in a tournament, it's your responsibility to make sure you abide by the tournament rules, and that includes taking errata into account. If you don't, and you show up with an illegal list, that's nobody's fault but yours.

To be fair, I meant "of course you're right" in guessing at FFG's reasoning, not that it actually was the right call for FFG to make.

Fair enough. I can't irony apparently.

I guess is a matter of cost. Actual 3U spend just 1 point per crew. With K4 you can't play 3 of them

Nah, my post was pretty vague.

Anyway, how 'bout that Pao LeHever?
