Best Campaign for Game Convention

By Slugrage, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I'll be running IA at a local game convention in March, and having not played all of them yet, which would be the best/most fun campaign to run for it? The players will be a mix of seasoned gamers and neophytes, as most cons are. We'll have time in our session to probably get two or three missions in. I have all the sets and all the ally packs too, so there's no limit for which box we could use.

Thoughts?

Well, if you're only going to have time to get two or three missions in, I wouldn't go with any of the full campaigns, as you'll only have time for the intro, a side mission (which doesn't really generally matter which campaign its in anyway) and the first story mission. So I'd definitely go with either TS or TBG mini-campaigns.

TS is, from what I've heard, a little easier for the rebels. Given the apparent mix you have, I'd go with it. You're also likely to see more iconic characters, which is always fun.

TS is fun, first mission starts off with Han and Boba in the Mos Eisley Cantina, very thematic and exciting. Then they get the droids and I'd skip quest 3 to be able to fight on the ship in quest 4.

No Luke or Vader though, if you want them you will have to do Luke's side mission.

I wonder if you could start out with the opener for TS, then scale mini-campaign style with two other hand-picked side missions- throw in whatever you want, really- Sympathy for the Rebellion, Dark Obsession, Canyon Run, anything you think would be fun. You could write up a quick storyline to tie the three missions together.

I ran Twin Shadows at Gen Con last year. I did a lot of prep work up front as far as pre-sorting tiles for the possible maps and bringing only what I needed. I shared with the hero players that our goal was to be finish by a target time, so they could be mindful of that. I also had everything set up for the first mission at the beginning. We managed to get the entire Twin Shadows mini-campaign done in five hours.

Twin Shadows is surly the most suited.

It looks like Twin Shadows is the winner here.

Thanks everyone!

Good luck, let us know how it goes!
