So this is a thing

By jek, in Runewars Miniatures Game

I'm liking the 32 page lore book, that's certainly a lot more lore than we currently have! He seems disappointed with the model quality which is something we all expected to be fair. However, I'm also disappointed that they didn't colour code the rune symbols on the character sheets like they suggested would be in the release at GenCon.

I think those letters are just the colors so you can match them if you are color blind

Yup, beat me to it. The colours are also the stances so you know what modifiers go with what stance.

I also find it interesting that the Rune Golem can not make a wheel movement!

They are really making it clear that he is a slow lumbering brute! I like it!

But if I remember correctly white action or modifier can be matched with any color, right ?

yup

Liking the heartseaker relic upgrade.

Ranged attacks ignore LOS? Yes please.

I'm a fan of trumpets, turns not slowing your movement

So is this the "fortification" that TallTonyB mentioned in the Team Covenant video?

Reaping Blade for me. Blank dies = mortal strike? I'll be sending the cannon fodder to scalp a hero!

No that is elevated terrain. On of the templates has a ring of wall.

I could not read that one clearly. It sounds amazing too. P.S. I hope these are getting to the wiki pepes. *peeps lol.

Hu.... why do you rhink the golem has blank pieces on his dial ? to illustrate the fact that this is a big strong guy that needs time and room to move and hit ?

EDIT : forget what I just said, other units have blank pieces of pizza on the dial... just wonder why... still something I didn't read carefully in the previews published so far...

Uhm... How does the Rune Golem turn? There's no turn on that dial and as far as I can tell, all of the other units have it. Does that mean they can only shift? That's how it seems to be with my limited understanding of the game.

There is shift, that lets you move forward, back, or side-to-side, but it doesn't change your facing. That's the green action. Then there is reform, which is one of the white modifiers. Reform lets you rotate around the center of your formation. That's how the Rune Golem is going to change its facing.

Embarrassing typos, like Elrad mentioned about French online content.

Actually it looks like one of his modifiers are a reform if I'm not mistaken

That's how I would read that too. Beast though these guys may be, that seems extremely limited for movement options to me.

I'm about as impressed with the models as I was with Imperial Assault. In other words: "Get some paint on that plastic, pronto!" I just can't imagine playing with these things unpainted. BattleLore didn't look too bad, but these just have to be painted. I think it's the fact that they're not colored. It's a good thing I'm in this for the gameplay and not for the minis.

I think that is the point though they go in a straight line and smash the things they come across

So, RG could reform to move and therefore change its facing. But there's no way to change its facing during a charge... interesting.

It sounds deliciously thematic when you say it like that. :D

Yeah, seems like a prediction piece. You've got to turn him to where you think units will move to on his next turn. Just thinking about planning for it and considering initiative makes my head hurt. The tactics in this game will be staggering -- at least in the beginning. This is gonna be great!

I think the scale demands paint too, especially on the larger models.

Not a ton of detail, but I like that as I've always been a "table top standard" painter myself and too many details add a lot of painting work, without a lot of visual payoff during a game.

Yep, if you can predict where he's going to be, that will be awesome.

I also like the tactic of "area denial". As in, "sure, go ahead and position your unit to charge my general's unit, but if you do, it's not going to end well for you when the Rune Golems counter-charge."

Yeah the first thing I'm going to be doing when I get these things all put together is priming them, I was amazed how much of a difference priming my stormtroopers in IA made...I'll paint them also but I'm going to start playing as soon as the primer dries lol

Am I the only one to feel a bit.... well not deceived but... I don't know. now that I'm able to see more or less what's in the box, I feel spoiled enough to not be so hyped as before...I don't know if you know what I mean...don't worry I do. It's not like I will give up and leave the train now, but somehow, I feel...well i don't know how to put a word on this...never mind !

Well and thanks to @jek we have a lot of information at hand than the review we've been waiting for a week by now. thanks again homie :) !

There's always that point in the movie when the monster reveals himself, and no matter how cool the costume designers make the monster, the truth is that the mystery is always better. Maybe it's a bit like that? Definitely for me seeing rows of gray plastic models and a stack of cards isn't as cool as seeing the painted minis and close-ups of some of the cards.

However, I think I'm as excited as ever! The new information from this post confirms a lot of hopes that I had for this game and has opened up a couple of new and interesting questions such as, can I add a carrion lancer to a Reanimate formation? It looks like maybe I can!
