Flagships and their Bellies

By Forresto, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

With the Chimaera in Rebels we've seen that despite the Imperial Standard paint scheme reinforcing uniformity, there are exceptions where designs can be painted onto a flagship. Thrawn may be the only exception to the rule. However I like to think that just as other aspiring and envious Imperial Officers copied the uniform of Tarkin (in the novel Tarkin, Tarkin designed his own uniform that became the Imperial Officer Uniform we all know and love) in an attempt to glean some of his greatness others would likewise copy Thrawn.

I was thinking that while in Armada we rarely ever see the ventral part of an Imperial vessel, it would be cool to see if people paint their own designs on the ventral hull. Thrawn has a Chimaera on his ship what does you Fleet Admiral have if anything?

Not going to lie, I put maybe 1/3 the effort into the bottom, it is going to be darker anyway (unless I for some reason wanted to bottom light), so just slapdash shading.

I find it "Cute", but mostly irreverent.

The only reason for placing anything on the Underside of an ISD, visually, is to show the people you are currently oppressing who you are.

Because you'd have to be hovering above them. But not too far above them. Show of Force style. Because you'd probably want ot be further away for Orbital Bombardment on a City... And the design of the Star Destroyer has the greatest of concentrated firepower at the front, high with its Turbolaser emplacements being where they are...

So its kind of niche.

As it is, my Rebel Admiral has a thing for Rose and Thorns, as depicted in my Painting Thread... She is somewhat of a Hard-nailed *****, though - in what limited RP and story interactions she's had, she seems to be someone who legitimises the Empires assessment that the Rebels are "Hardline Terrorists".
