Dutch attacking Biggs & Friends

By Mad Cat, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Dutch Vander attacks an enemy X-Wing doing 2 hits. Biggs (an ally of the X-wing) takes one of those points of damage onto himself.

1. Does Dutch activate the slider of both the X-Wing and Biggs?

2. If Dutch had only done 1 damage, and Biggs had attracted it, is the X-Wing activated?

3. If Dutch had only done 1 damage, and Biggs had attracted it, is Biggs activated?

1.) When you see at the text from Dutch, you will see:

Quote

When a squadron you attack suffers at least 1 damage, you may toggle its activation slider to the activated side. If it was already activated, it suffers 1 additional damage instead.

You are only attacking the one squadron, not both. So only the one that is attacked can be activated by the effect from Dutch.

2.) The X-Wing only switch the slider when he suffer damage. If it is only 1, and Biggs moves it away, the X-Wing does not suffer any damage and the slider is not changed.

3.) Only the squadron that is attacked can becomes activated. When Biggs pulls the damage on himself, he was not attacked and so does not become activated.

Just to point out:

Look that Biggs doesn't "move" the damage. He prevent 1 damage. Then other squadron with escort suffers 1 damage. Those damages are not the same damage even when the logic understanding of things says us they are.

1. No because it only applies to the squadron that "you," Dutch, attack.

2. no the x-wing is not activated because taking at least 1 damage is an express condition precedent to the Dutch ability

3. No, again only the squadron that is the target of the attack may be activated. Biggs was never attacked, so he cannot be activated.
