Snap Shot

By charlesanakin, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So I was reading over Snap Shot and it says:

"After an enemy ship executes a maneuver, you may perform this attack against that ship. Attack: Attack 1 ship. You cannot modify your attack dice and cannot attack again this phase."

What it does not say is, "primary weapon attack" so if I have an Autoblaster Turret and you finish a maneuver inside range 1 RAW says I can fire a 2d unmodified non-[hit] cancellable shot.

Thoughts?

Uh, what? Snap Shot is a Secondary Weapon. The "This attack" refers to Snap Shot itself. You cannot substitute another Secondary Weapon for Snap Shot when using Snap Shot..

That's what I get for posting this late at night. Thanks. I may have been confused by a secondary weapon going in an EPT slot?

It's a 2-die, Range 1 attack that is designed to emulate a pilot's quick reaction shot when another ship swings unexpectedly into his sights. So it's not surprising that they chose an EPT for this, but it is unusual being a secondary weapon as this EPT.

Like i said before in another topic:

- we already had Weapons in "non-weapon" slots (Hot-Shot in Illiclit)

-we also already had non-Weapons in "weapon" slots (Munitions and Seismic in torpedos).

So its a normal secondary weapon by itself.

A follow-up question. When it says, "you cannot attack again this phase", does it mean it's a single use as in once per Activation phase or once against a single enemy ship during its movement? It came last night in a game I was watching.

The phases of a turn are Planning, Activation, Combat, End. Snap Shot means you can't attack again until after the entire activation phase not just the ship concerned) has completed. (Or the combat phase, should you for some reason choose to use it in the combat phase).

Just as it says on the card.

Means you cannot trigger something like gunner off of the Snap Shot attack, nor can you use it against more than one ship. Your just throwing 2 raw dice out there at one ship, no mods, then proceed with rest of activation phase.

Can Zuckuss still use his ability to add a die? Seems like he should be able to.

Yes. CHanging the number of dice rolled is not a modification.

Modifications are:

Adding specific results (e.g. evade token, Finn crew, Advanced Targetting Computer)

Changing results (e.g. focus token spend for its default offensive or defensive effect)

Rerolling dice

Think of it this way: adding dice happens before you roll, and if you haven't rolled yet, then how could you be modifying a roll?

That's a good way to look at it generally speaking but Lightweight Frame goes and has to be a special snowflake.

I literally had the same exact thought as I hit 'submit' and also thought, 'ah, **** it'.
