Upcoming Products Guess

By evanger, in X-Wing

Based on history, I'd wager we're set for an "Aces" announcement, soon.

Scum Aces featuring a StarViper and Kihraxz seems logical.

For Wave 11, it appears that the Imps need a large base and a small base, the Scum need a small base, and Rebels need something. Likely small base.

I'd guess Imps will get Imperial Customs Frigate (large base) and XG-1 Assault Gunboat (small). Too soon for TIE Reaper and Krennic's shuttle, as Kylo's shuttle just arrived. Maybe the Mining Guild TIE. The Rebels could get the Naboo N-1.

It sure seems like a Rebel Aces style pack with X-wing and Y-wing would be soon, too, with obvious tie-ins to Rogue One.

E-Wing fix

I'd be surprised if they didnt release a Rogue One related box. Both the T65 and the Ywing need a bit of love and theyre BOTH seen in that movie and BOTH did some pretty badass things.

Ewings i doubt we'd see for awhile. Theres a handful of stuff they can do already and Ewings arent a part of them. Not to mention i think that ship is in such a mess that the only way to make the ship viable is to either 1) introduce even more gnarly pilots than Corran and/or 2) make Corran a freakin' god. Theres been a few decent ideas for ewings on the forums but most of them are either blatantly overpowered or seem to have all their focus on not giving Corran an inch and its forces the ship into a weird position or have REALLY wordy cards.

TIE Reaper must be on the cards soon. I'd like to see it with a boost or barrel roll action to make it stand out from the other Imperial large base ships. Boost is probably more fitting. Deathtroopers don't like being upside down.

I agree given it was only named officially in a mobile game, it might be too early for the TIE Reaper. As a large base ship (or maybe even small depending on scale, but I reckon large) with perhaps a singular crew slot so it can't palp but can take advantage of crew cards other than the Phantom and the weaker imp Firespray. It's also not a shuttle.

Two important things to note for scum, while a "Black Sun Aces" kihraxz and StarViper seems likely (and in their latest RPG supplement, FFG printed the Kihraxz including the Vaksai upgrade option, so that's already passed LFL), firstly that because of the R1 tie in ships, Scum are now a ship behind in terms of numbers, and assuming another movie tie-in this winter would drop to 2 behind, so I feel like they will probably have another double ship wave to keep them pushed up. I also think with Light Syck being a thing in the C-ROC, the Mining Guild TIE is unlikely to be this wave, as Scum now have a new swarm option which will come out and I honestly can't see the Mining Guild TIE as anything but another swarm ship - it'll already be hard to differentiate from Banana pirates and regular imp TIEs I don't think they'll double stack mechanics all too soon. I wonder if we might not get something from the flavor of Rebels, or they'll complete the circle with the H-6 from Armada to give scum kind of a dedicated bomber - though unlike the Punisher and K-Wing the scale on the Havoc probably makes it a large base. Given the fact that it's canon, and the interesting parallel also with recent RPG released (The latest Age of Rebellion adventure features mandalorians, including Kad Solus and Old Teroch) we might see the HH-87 Starhopper which was associated both with hutts and Zygerrian slavers - but otherwise I'm not sure the ship has anything really distinct to add to the game besides it's visual design.

Isnt the Reaper only marginally larger than the Striker? it looks like the same design with a different chassis to accommodate troops rather than weapons.

It might be another year or so, but I am interested in what the new Han Solo movie may have for Scum & Villainy ships.

So looking at this, while obviously there's some perspective, the "hull" of the Reaper is at least twice as long as a striker, maybe more, and the wings are significantly longer and thicker as well. and a bit wider overall. Striker already hangs off the front of the small ship base as is (obviously rebel ships with wingspan to it more so it's not a huge deal, just putting it in perspective), if you made it like, twice and wide and long at the hull and then added the wingspan both side and forward it'd probably be very solid and blocky on a small base. Large base also has some mechanical elements, it is easier to hit because there's more of it, but it has a wider firing arc, and some upgrades are limited by size (so if it can't barrel roll it won't be except with expert handling if it has an EPT) which might be preferable to a stocky transport.

Wave 11 which will have some ships in it. However in September after Wave 12 is announced we will see some ships from Episode 8 and they will be out in December before Wave 12.

The next thing after the C-ROC is all but guaranteed to be a Starviper/Kihraxz Scum Aces set (I'd lay money on it). After that, I'd expect Wave 11, which I believe will feature the Phantom II for Rebels, Darth Maul's ship for Scum, and either the TIE Reaper or Krennics Shuttle (seems unlikely, since we already have two shuttles for Imperials, and only just got one of those) for the Empire.

After that, I believe we'll see a Rogue One-themed 'Aces' style pack, containing two X-Wings - one Blue Squadron, the other in Partisan colours, and I believe the two will present two different approaches (reflecting the warfare style and tactics of the more 'normal' Blue Squadron and the more extremist troops belonging to Saw Gerrera, respectively) toward 'fixing' the X-Wing.

Anything further than that I'd say is impossible to guess at the moment.

I hope we get a better Kihraxz model. It was so pimp in SWG and now it looks like a dejected stick.

I think this is a really good way to go back and title/pilot fix a whole host of older ships with little to no use. There's only so many epic ships you can release as fixes..

OTOH, more Epic ships would be nice. . .
