Ynot Squad Benchmark

Denis responded yesterday finally - lol. I will definitely be keeping my version going as I like the simplicity of it better. His new version seems a bit too complicated right now. I mentioned that to him and he may change his back a bit.

The UI is the least of the concerns. What needs to be done is a great refactoring of the code. Most of the abilities and game effects are done in a hacky way with function wrappers and stuff.
I know what you think: I shouldn't criticize if I don't have anything better to show.

Still, I think not doing a proper cleaning of the code will lead to harder and harder times later on, when the current way to implement stuff cannot properly represent new game effects.

Yub...Denis seems to be able to quickly implement new stuff, but at the cost of many bugs, etc.

His new version has all the new stuff in it + a bunch of really nice new features. But the combat simulator (which is the most important part) is kind of unplayable for me.

I'm pretty sure it will pay off to develop in a more organized and structured way.

I really hope he will coordinate efforts with you. Makes no sense to have two versions of this in the wild when one would move significantly quicker. Love what you're doing, thanks again.

This is what we have been doing which is why the Wave 10 stuff is not complete. dtanner has been adding in stuff so we can troubleshoot the bugs better. I've cleaned up a lot of the code. We still have a ways to go and are continuing on with it.

My goal is to have a properly working version with as few bugs as possible. I try to test things out prior to pushing it to minimize an "unplayable" situation. I'm not a fan at all of the new UI. I think his old version was much simpler and better for what this is. All the new "stats" and stuff aren't really needed. I'm a huge fan of the K.I.S.S. principle.

Also, his updated version is a giant mess at the moment. Sticking to yours, at least for now.

Edit: by the way, are the planning phase calculations done client-side or server-side?

Everything is done client side by your PC. It is a javascript app.

I really hope that he decides to collaborate. you guys have done awesome things. I will be continuing to use yours.

It's kind of strange right now. He gave me access to his github as a collaborator last night so I can help him out and I will be using some of his stuff in my fork but there won't be a direct link between the two as he has taken the new version in a different direction than I expected. I will be helping him out with bug fixes as much as I can while still working on my fork of it if that makes any sense so I guess in a weird sort of roundabout way we will be working together?

I can't even figure out how to add asteriods when creating squad on http://xws-bench.github.io/bench
The other problem I face is when loading Parattani pre made squad as Player 2, only Fenn is part of it. Asajj and Manaroo spawn in top left hand corner of screen, while not being a part of any squadron

That is Denis' new modified app and not the fork this thread is about. Perhaps you should post on his blog about it as that is how folks reported stuff to him in the past.

UI = urinary infection??

I love your site and it's the best way to try some ships or combinations and it has saved me from purchasing 5 of a ship, just so I could say I flew 5 of them.

User Interface = UI

You can try before you buy!

Nothing beats playing the game in real life though against a worthy opponent. For times when you can't have that or Vassal, you have this to kill some time with.

I've been thoroughly enjoying this. It's all I can use at work, I just wish new stuff was on there! Can't test Strikers. :(

Yeah I know. Unfortunately Denis'benchmark is bugged as hell. Looking forward to the update of your benchmark.

This is positively the version I am going to use. Can't wait for the Strikers to be implemented. The way I pseudo test a striker is by plugging in a Phantom with advanced sensors and engine upgrade. I can't do the barrel roll after, but it gives me practice with their movements.

woof.. that was quite an update to the original site. too bad it has crashed in 5 successive games for me. back to the "old school" Ynot tester! :)

BUG Alert: Countess Ryad with the TIE/x7 and Push The Limit --
After executing a 3, 4, or 5 maneuver -- when she gets the FREE Evade Token, she gets a Stress Token after the first action, not the second, with Push the Limit.

Forgive me if this bug has already been addressed.
I love this app, by the way. Thanks for all the work you do on it.

Sounds like the AI is having her PtL off the free Evade action (per fixed X7 wording in latest FAQ) instead of taking her normal action then using PtL.

Love this tool. Very useful, particularly because I don't get to play actual games that often.

I don't know if it's my specific builds causing an interaction problem, but Snap Shot doesn't seem to be working at the moment. It hangs the game and requires a restart.

Keep up the great work, still really enjoying it!

Yes he is continuing but his current version is quite buggy.

Snap Shot isn't fully implemented yet.

I tested both versions. If you optimize yours to work without bugs, i prefer it, since the other has so many that i can't even reliably say what is causing it. And the stats and beginner guide... i don't really care about that.

I hope you get some Of the new upgrades and pilots to work soon! That would be great
