3 Starkiller Base Pilots

By Gruntaloob, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Is there any reason against flying 3 Starkiller Base Pilots, or Upsilon Class Shuttles for that matter?

With 12 standard and up to 15 attack dice rolled per turn and 36 hit points, the Upsilon Class Shuttle may be the most overpowered ship in the game. The only other combo that comes close in terms of raw points is 4 Omicron shuttles, which is 40 hit points and 12 attacks, but I've always been of the mind that an additional attack die is better than an additional attack, if the total number of die rolled is the same. And, with 3 of them, there are 10 points left over to do things like: Kylo Ren+Darth Vader -- guarantee that anyone who shoots you is PS 0 for the rest of the game. Fleet Officer + coordinate. -- 2 focus tokens for the price of 1. Obviously, you would have a weak rear, but with LT Dormitz + Hyperwave Comm Scanner you could set your ships up in a pretty defensive delta formation that would mitigate that from the start, and whoever wants to get behind you will have to get through 12 red dice in order to do it.

Anyway, I'd be curious to see what other people would do with those remaining 10 points.

For spectacle i guess

Initiative bid?

2x Gunner obviously.

nah, two collision dectors and EUs for maneuverability/blocking and getting arcs on stuff. third guy takes FCS

you can choo choo boost onto debris for literally no consequence, as obstacle effects only specifically trigger when overlapped during a maneuver

(T-beam rules card explicitly mentions that they also trigger obstacle effects, despite it being neither maneuver nor action)

except you not being able to shoot while parked on an asteroid

I really want to run this, but no way I'm buying 3 batwings.

Starkiller Base Pilot (30)
Collision Detector (0)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1)

Starkiller Base Pilot (30)
Collision Detector (0)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1)

Lieutenant Dormitz (31)
Collision Detector (0)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1)

Total: 100

Can set them all up at PS 12, then put the two SBP's within range 2 of Dormitz (which is farther then you think). Then both of them get a focus. Run a 3 straight and you are in your opponents business turn 1.

double post
