Max dice on a roll?

By Urgod0148, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

With the sense upgrade I can upgrade my attacks by 2. If I have 4 yellows and a green already in Lightsaber is it possible to go to 5 yellow and 1 green? Or if I do it twice to 6 yellows and 1 green?

It only allows you to Upgrade your attack once.

It upgrades the Difficulty of attacks targeting you twice, but your attack only once.

And you can't "do it twice" as in commit a Force die twice and take that same bonus twice.

But there is no "max pool size".

Doesn't the strength upgrade for Sense allow you to upgrade any ongoing effect of Sense twice? Wouldn't that apply to both the control upgrade for enemy attacks and your attacks? I'm currently away from my book, so I'm not 100% sure

Yes with the Strength upgrade you upgrade the pool twice. So your 4Y1G becomes 5Y1G. And there are caps to skill and stat but not to the pool size itself

That sounds legit. I probably shouldn't talk about rules determinations when I don't have my book either.

Awesome that would be a great amount of yellows to have but can you not just activate the force power a second time? This would allow you to commit a second force die and upgrade the pool 4 times.

When you commit Force dice, you can commit more than one, and it still remains a single action.

So, with the right Force power upgrades, you should be able to commit two Force dice and get the pool upgraded twice for each Force die that is committed.

The long description of the ability on page 305 specifically states you cannot activate this ability multiple times. You may only commit one time for 2 upgrades (still an awesome benefit). Actually I believe I read through them all awhile ago and the only one that lets you commit multiple dice is the Enhance ones that increase your Agility/Brawn.

Not exactly. With most of those "commit Force dice" Control Upgrades, if it has the tag 'cannot be activated multiple times' (like the Sense Control Upgrades do) then you can only commit whatever number of Force die the upgrade says is required. For instance, the Sense Control Upgrades list a single Force die, so you only get to commit one die, while the Duration Upgrade for Bind requires you to commit 3 Force dice.

Plus, each commit effect is a separate action, so to be able to use both the defensive and offensive Sense Control Upgrades, you'd have to spend two actions to commit one Force die to each effect, but you'd only be able to commit one Force die.

Enhance's Control Upgrades to increase your Brawn or Agility are an exception, as they don't have the 'cannot be activated multiple times' tag at the end of their full description, so with those two you can commit multiple Force dice as a single action, but only for one Control Upgrade at a time; so with Force Rating 3 you could commit two Force dice to Brawn as one action, and then the final Force die to Agility as a separate action.

In the section on committing Force dice it specifically says you cannot use the same effect more than once.
