Is Jan Ors Pilot Good Now?

I've been seeing Jan and Rey lists like this pop up, and I'm wondering if there's anything to it. I always thought Jan was cool, but just overcosted. Is she good in this list, or anywhere else for that matter?

Good god, no.

Pair against a RAC + Kylo and enjoy watching Rey (or Jan) get Blinded twice and then knocked to PS0. Nothing like Rey getting that 6-Die attack lined up only to get Blinded before she shoots. Also, RAC will almost certainly have Rebel Captive, so once Jan is out of the fight Rey can't use Expertise against RAC. And Jan can't use her ability if she tries to attack RAC first, since she'd be double-stressed by Rebel Captive.

Maybe pre-IWSYTDS she would have had a chance, and players had some success at Worlds with Chewbacca + Jan Ors list way back in like 2014 (you can watch Jeff B's game on YouTube with Chewie + Jan). But it never quite really took off, though TLT nowadays would help Jan greatly. Still, the Falcon is just not an efficient ship in today's meta, even with Rey pilot.

Jan seems to pop up from time to time. In that particular squad I'd consider switching her EPT to Wired as she will almost always be stressed when it comes time for her to shoot.

Jan in that squad wants the condition. Determination will discard the crit it assigns.

Jan Ors takes a fair bit of planning to fly and not die. A Hawk is an easy target and she is particularly annoying and draws fire because of it.

I've seen a build with her that involved engine upgrade, TLT and Nien Numb work... Her naturally high pilot skill allowed her to arc dodge a bit to keep her alive but the player was also very good and probably could make any ship dance to his tune.

Ah, good point, though I can't imagine even with a non-Determination (e.g. Wired or VI) Jan she'd be the target of Kylo's ire, especially if Chewbacca is present. Easier for RAC to just boost into her R1 blindspot and hit her with 4 Dice while she can't fire back. That and Kylo's wingmate(s) can potentially finish Jan off in a round, then the Blinding of Rey can begin in earnest.

Either way, Rebel Captive totally wrecks that Rey in a one-on-one, even with Kanan aboard.

Rey hits like a truck, and while it's tempting to put spikes on the wheels of the truck it's a better idea to make sure that in the inevitable death of that poorly armored truck it isn't accompanied by someone driving a grocery cart.

I think that the biggest problem for Jan is finding the right ship to fly with her. I played against a squad that had Jan with Tycho and Jake (I think that they had Proton Rockets, PTL, Crackshot and Autothrusters) and it seemed effective.

No one wants a 6 die Proton Rocket with Crackshot to the face.

Expensive, slow and fragile

Vts help but still, the hwk isnot a terribly easy to keep alive platform

Jans ability is great but she is on one of the worst base ships in the game

Try Trick Shot on Jan. 4 dice TLTs are a real menace.

Heff provides the range 2 band for Jans TLT shots. Also, with Jammers, she and the rest of the squad are rolling 3 green dice. M9G8 on Jess lets Jan get rerolls. Jyn on Heff gives whoever needs them a focus or two or three. Jan gives Jess 4 dice, and she can reroll em all with her ability. If someone bumps Heff, he gets a full range 1 shot, but not just 4 dice, Jan can bump him up to 5.
