Mythics, clearly you are a good player so this needs saying.

You say there is a stale meta of full frontal assaults. Quite frankly that type of play is missing finesse. Its like cracking codes via brute force, sure it works, however there are far better ways.

Taking pumped up Bwings into this meta is just finding a hammer bigger than theirs and quite frankly thats pathetic. Its highly effective, yet judging by all your posts you are capable of so much more.

Grab Ackbar, mc30s. Enhanced armaments and sensor teams. Fly with style, attacking from multiple angles. Tear the lists apart with skilled flying. Show them new ways of playing!

Engine teching madine mc80s

Cracken corvettes

Sooo many options.

You can bring variety to the meta. Please do so! Grabbing a bigger hammer than your opponent is effective, its just plain dull.

Do it for yourself, do it for Utah, most of all, do it for the yellow spaceship fraternity.

I disagree. If 9 players bring ISD with none/light squads, you should force them to think outside the box by crushing them with bombers. Adaptation is healthy in a game, and the experiences one gains from a game can be translated into the real world. I think Mythics is in the right to fly whatever he wants. Everyone else knows he was practicing it, and it's not his fault his opponents decided to bring something ineffective to the game. It would be like trying to kill an ISD with only Gozantis. Sure, you might get lucky that one time, but you will be tripping over all your ships, blocking your shots, and just your time and money.

When you go to large tournaments, your focus should be on winning. Of course have fun, but you should be brining your best fleet that you have the most time with.

I think Gink was going more for the "what do I do next." When you're clearly a good player, a lot of the fun of the game is exploring new options, learning to play different styles of fleets, and ultimately working on something that nobody else seems to be working on. For example, when I started playing a Madine Liberty, the forum consensus at the time seemed to center around other commanders and ships just being better, as if he and the ship itself really left much to be desired. To me, that's an opening to explore a different play-style and fill a niche in the game that really needed exploring. I also needed a solution in my own community to the fact that the two other players that I'd place at the top level had two very different lists and I needed something that played differently still but offered a chance at countering both lists. From October to the present, I've placed 5th, 3rd, and today, just 4th over three regionals. I had a guy borrow my list and win a regional. Yet another list ran Madine MC30s to a regional victory a few weeks ago.

I'm fairly certain we've not even come close to exhausting the new wave, so I'm really looking forward to moving on and trying something else.
