Hey guys, I need some clarification on how Kallus works. It says to add an extra die of any colour to the attack pool.
Does this mean that if I'm attacking at mid range, I can add a black die? Or do I have to obey the range rule and pick between red and blue?

You can add every color you want. As long as you have already an attack pool.
If your ship has a black anti squadron dice, you can only attack on short range. You can add a red dice with kallus if you want, but it does not change that you need to be on short range for the attack.
And on the other hand, if your ship has a blue anti squadron dice, you can attack on medium range and add a black dice with kallus.
The range rules only apply for the first collection of the dice with the ships dice armament.
So when a card says you "add" something to the attack pool, it means you add the die after you have already rolled the initial dice.
So Ackbar adds 2 reds. Concentrate Fire adds a color you already have. Kallus adds a color of your choice.
But you must be able to form the attack to get to the modify dice step.
1. Gather dice against a legal target (must be at range and in arc)
2. Roll attack pool.
3. Modify dice
4. Let your opponent spend defense tokens
5. Resolve damage and any damage modifying effects like Gallent Haven or Biggs.
For example, let's say you have Kallus on a Vic II and it is trying to attack 5 Rebel aces, and 2 of them are on the station. For 3 of them, you will be able to attack at medium-close range with 1 blue die, and one of your choice. The 2 on the station are obstructed, so you never form an attack pool since you only have 1 anti-squad die.
