Newbie question again : do massive figure push even large ones?

By FixB, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi,

Basically, can a Bantha stop on spaces occupied by a Nexus and push him away?

Thanks !!! :)

Yes, any figure that isn't massive.

great, i needed that info as well :)

And massive figures can't push any other massive figures by ending movement on top of them only because a massive figure cannot enter spaces that already have another massive figure.

(Large and Massive have little to do with each other except that all current massive figures are also large.)

Thanks ! I don't know how I missed this as it's directly there at the end of the Massive definition !

So I can't even go through another massive figure... That's interesting ;)

Just to confirm : another massive figure still doesn't obstruct LOS to or from a massive figure ?

Rules as written - figures (whatever traits they have) do not block line of sight to and from a massive figure. So massive figures do not block line of sight to or from other massive figures.

Yuge target is yuge.. :)

Interestingly, the provision in the rules is that Massive figures specifically Push non-Massive figures to the closest empty space of the owner's choice.

Pushing follows all the usual rules for movement, including terrain interactions.

While there weren't any real issues with that in the past, the release of Jabba makes the rule a bit problematic.

Jabba is the first figure that's larger than 2x1 that's not Mobile or Massive. This means that there are places on several tiles that he cannot squeeze through, as the gap between impassable terrain is only 1 space wide. This in turn means that there might be situations when he's stepped on by a Massive figure and cannot be legally displaced according to the rules for Pushing figures because he cannot move through the gap between terrain. An example would be the top right corner of the top deployment zone on Coruscant Landfill, where you could deploy Jabba in a way that would make it impossible for him to move.

There are currently no provisions in the RRG, errata or FAQ to address this issue.

Massive figures cannot enter indoor spaces in the campaign, so possibility of it happening is limited.

In skirmish, if you do that, the universe will explode and both players lose.

I believe he just would go to the nearest square he fits in, even if that is not adjacent. Could be wrong. He gets stomped and then teleports to safety.

That is a perfectly reasonable solution to the situation and one I myself subscribe to when judging Organized Play games.

It isn't supported by anything within the actual rules though, which is the issue.

All massive figures are large figures, but not all large figures are mammals... or something like that.

Not necessarily. Currently all massives are also large. But they could easily release a small figure with the massive trait.

Rules Question:
What happens if a large figure (jabba) is in a position that it can't move out of (like on a certain spot in the landfill skirmish map) and a Massive figure lands on top of it and pushes it?

When this happens, Jabba should be pushed in such a way that he ends in a legal position requiring the fewest number of spaces pushed, following his normal movement rules (for example, large figures cannot move diagonally).

In the extremely rare case where this fails (there is not legal space for Jabba to move to, but there is an opening he can’t fit through), place Jabba in the legal position that is the fewest number of spaces away from his current position, following normal rules for counting spaces.

Hope that helps!
