Is my homemade race balanced? Hopper=Kangaroo.

This is what I have now.

A new race with hyperspace capabilities are colonising the galaxy!

Hoppers!

Characteristics.

Brawn Agility Intellect Cunning Willpower Presence


Wound Threshold: 11 + Brawn

Strain Threshold: 10 + Willpower

Starting XP: 80

Special Abilities: Hoppers begin the game with one free rank in Athletics. They still may not train Athletics above Rank 2 during character creation. Hoppers gain one Boost dice to Athletics checks made to jump.

Strong Kick: When a Hopper makes a Brawl check to deal damage to an opponent, their attack deals +2 damage and has a crit rating of 3.

Pouch: All Hoppers have pouches that can hold 2 encumbrance. Checks to find hidden items in the pouch are opposed by skulduggery of wearer. Pouch can conceal up to 2 encumberance worth of items. The pouch has a bonus of +2 boost dice to Skullduggery checks to hide items in the pouch.

Okay, now that we've clocked kangaroos, it's on to the next species - Space Cassowary!

ST: 8

XP: 85-90

Vicious: Gains 1 rank of the Lethal Blows talent.

Fearsome: Gains 1 rank in Coercion skill.

Claws: Cassowaries have three-toed feet with sharp claws. The second toe, the inner one in the medial position, sports a dagger-like claw that can be 125 mm (5 in) long.This claw is particularly fearsome since cassowaries sometimes kick humans and animals with their enormously powerful legs. When a Cassowary makes a Brawl check to deal damage to an opponent, their attack deals +2 damage and has a crit rating of 4.

Yeah, actually, I like the idea of downgrading the check to show that they are better at leaping. A regular check for most would be easier for a race prone to leaping. One could clone the Kyuzo's ability if they wanted, but I like the idea of boost dice or a reduction of difficulty. The latter more so.

Yeah, I think this checks out. Question though, what do you mean by, "all Athletics jump checks once"? Maybe reword to, "Hoppers gain [Boost] to Athletics checks made to jump" for clarity? If that's what you mean.
