I was wondering if anyone from Ontario, Canada was thinking about or is going to Gencon 2017 for the re-launch of L5R? I am thinking about going and I would like to form or join a group to go with.

I'm going with two other friends and one of my definite focuses this year will be on L5R. My plan is to sign up for any launch tournament they do (hopefully, similar to how they launched Conquest with people who signed up for the tournament being offered a copy of the core set to purchase). I haven't played L5R since the 90s but loved it and have so many fond memories. I'm a little concerned at this point, though. FFG haven't exactly been forthcoming with L5R LCG news and event registration is coming up in May.

There's no reason to be concerned - FFG have a timeline for when they'll release information, and they're not going to deviate from that. We still have nearly six months until GenCon and three months until the event listings go up...there's plenty of time for our fervour to be whipped even further up

i recommend crossposting this to the facebook l5r ground and /r/l5r on reddit. between those two and here, i'm fairly confident you'll find someone.

what Mark said. we're all used to AEG's system. FFG has their own, and its very predictable. nothing to worry.
