Daredevil + Coordinate

By Thormind, in X-Wing Rules Questions

What happens if use daredevil and hit an asteroid before you activate? Do you still lose your action? Example: Upsilon uses coordinate on a decimator. Decimator uses daredevil and ends on an asteroid. Decimator activates and its maneuver does not go through the asteroid. Can it boost after moving?

There's no formal answer to this in the FAQ, but it's been answered by email and in an interview - no, only hitting an asteroid with your dial manoeuvre or ionised manoeuvre or other equivalent (ionised manoeuvre, 2-straight if you reveal a red when stressed) causes you to lose your action.. Manouevres performed outside the execute manouevre substep (adaptive ailerons, various ways to Daredevil prior to moving) don't cost your action. They do get all the other effects though - damage, stress from debris, not being able to shoot if you end on a rock.

The emails and interview that I recall dealt with bumping other ships, not overlaping obstacles.

We've got rules that cover overlapping obstacles with a maneuver and we've got rules that cover overlapping obstacles with anything other than a maneuver. Daredevil and Adaptive Ailerons are both maneuvers and those rules should be used.

IIRC the email and the interview dealt with obstacles as well - but either way, it needs FAQing to be sure.

Usually this is going to be irrelevant as using Daredevil will give you a Stress token and that will prevent you from taking actions anyway until you get rid of it.

Not really. Co-ordinated by someone else before you move, daredevil, green move after. Pretty easy to accomplish.

The email stated that the only time you skip your action step, is if you bump/overlap in the reveal dial >maneuver step

Doesnt adaptive ailerons happen when the ship activates? Daredevil would happen before the ship activates (through coordinate).
