So I've been flying rebel for a while, and I'd like to switch it up. I just bought a bunch of imperial ships including the decimator. I'm just wondering, what's the best ship I can fly with it to really pack a punch?
Best wingman for decimator?
If you're into finnesse flying, Tie phantoms still can make the magic happen. If you want a solid reliable platform with room for error, pick a Tie/X7 Defender. Probably Countess Ryad specifically.
List I flew recently at a regional (took 17th mostly due to my play error, not the fault of the list):
Rear Admiral Chiraneau (63)
-Veteran Instincts
-Hotshot Co-pilot
-Gunner
-Darth Vader
-Engine Upgrade
Countess Ryad (37)
-Juke
-Tie/X7
-Stealth Device
Other typical builds take Palpatine over other crew options, and I think a Palpatine decimator would pair better with a phantom than a defender (even though the defender would still be a great choice).

I have most of that to make it happen. I just don't have juke. I was thinking of trying whisper to get better at flying such a squishy ship, mostly what I'm used to flying is rather tacky stuff.

With whisper, never leave home without Advanced cloaking device and Veteran Instincts. Good upgrades past those 2 are fire control system, agent Kallus, and gunner. There are probably a few more that I am not considering but those are the ones that spring to mind. Sensor jammer is a consideration if you expect a lot of tlt.

I found this in another decimator thread and I may give it a shot for my first time. I have palp coming in the mail fairly soon.

I like a 65 point RAC:
Rear Admiral Chiraneau
- Vet Instincts
- Kylo
- HotShot
- Gunner
- Title
- Engine
Title helps get Kylo or the boost off if you were surprised by their move. This leaves 35 points. There are a lot of good Imperials at 35, but my favorite will always be Soontir. Is he obsolete in this meta? I hope not. If so here are some other 35s:
Maarek (Defender); Juke; x7
Vessery; Juke; x7
Ryad; PTL; x7
(see the theme)
Vader; VI; x1; ATC; Engine
Backdraft; Pred; FCS; Title; Primed Thrusters; LWF
Tomax Bren; Crack Shot; Extra Munitions, Homing Misslile; LWF (34)
See, tons of options IMO.
