I like the idea of using a lot of red dices, specially with ECM. Long range effective borbardment!!

having ECM on the 3 ships would be nice, but I'd have to sacrifice considerable fighter support.

Looks solid. I've been having lots of success with a similar Ackbar fleet lately. I've found DTTs to be really helpful too.

Ive been trying to settle on a fleet that includes Biggs, Jan, and some Xs with Ackbar, but can't find a mix I really like.

hmm, do you go with only 1 Assault frigate in that case? Or do you remove the flotillas to recover the points?

Only one frigate. Ive found trying to broadside with more than 2 ships to be challenging. I get in my own way a lot.

I drop a Frigate down to a TRCR90 and can use the points for other toys. I also usually just use a Command Cruiser. The difference between 5 and 6 red dice is minimal and I find that if I fly defensively I don't need two defensive retrofits.

The Xs work better for me than the As have. I'm more likely to keep them near my ships for defense.

here's a 2nd list I just made using the same philosophy... I think it's just as solid if not better, as there's one more activation.

I was toying around with a list like this, and why not take the MC80 Assault Carrier, a Single Assault Frigate, one TRC 90, a Flotilla and some squadrons to taste?

Still gives you a bucket of red-dice to toss at people. And with Ackbar you can take the TRC 90, get between 2 ships and then fire out more than it's front arc at 2 ships, with a Turbolaser Reroutes to prevent a whiff.

you want the actual, silly reason? I recently bought a 2nd assault frig and I want to justify my purchase xD

Oh yes... reminds me when I ran 2 Interdictors a couple of times because I had already bought both of them. Ha.

I guess I was only talking about terms of Optimization.

I think a 2 assault frigates list is actually viable, but right now I'm just focusing on doing a list that works. The 2nd one makes more sense, but I thought about the 1st well... first...

I feel like in the first list your squadron cover is pretty light, which could prove problematic.

yeah. My hope is that Tycho and Shara delay the bombers long enough for my ships to take out the carriers. It's pretty risky though, and as you said the 2nd list is probably better.

It was highly effective against two lists without sqds.

I used the GR75 and sqds to get a deployment advantage over my opponents, by simply placing them in the middle, before placing the CR90 and AF2's on either flank.

wow! I love it. I might pick Hera and give rogues to a few A-Wings! Did Jaina's light survive all encounters? I have a problem keeping my CR90s alive.

Well, I simply keep the AF2 battle line in between Jaina's Light and the enemy, so the opposing ships has to go through the AF2 line to get at Jaina's Light and as she ignores obstruction, she can add her 3 dice to the AF2 kill zone, when enemy ships gets closer to the AF2 line.

Basically its what I call a dual layer Conga line. Where the ships closest to the enemy moves at one speed less, than the ships farthest away, so when they slowly circle the enemy , all ships stays relatively close togehther, in a dual line.

awesome, and I just realized I don't need Hera as the AFs provide all the squadron commands I need.

I alternated with sqd commands between the two AF2's, so when one made a sqd command the other made a repair in one turn, in the following turn they swapped commands, so both AF2's had a steady flow of Repairs, while still providing a steady flow of sqd commands.

Remember the GR75 could also assist in providing command tokens to the two AF2's.

last iteration for the first list... My only concern is the light squadron support and I almost feel like removing the flotilla to add 2 A-Wings.
