lots of melee dmg against minions

By Gordonovan, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

what if I do like 18 DMG with brawl against one minon. is the leftover DMG assigned to the rest as well? like killing 3 stormtroopers?

if you ask,I do

pressure point + repulsor fist + deadly accuracy. this way I ignore soak as well. knock them all unconscious.

basicly it means, what applies to ranged DMG also applies to melee?

cheers

Generally, yeah. Remember, you have to exceed a wound threshold to incapacitate a character. So if a minion has 5 wounds, you have to deal 6 wounds to it.

Don't forget that a turn is not a short period of time. It's about a minute long.
So during this one attack you're doing against the minions, you're getting a lot of blows in.
Just like you're firing more than one shot per attack, you're also throwing more than one punch/kick per attack in melee.

Normally, if you only did enough damage to down one minion, that means you're spending the turn dodging and weaving, and also missing several blows to finally land one (or more) that knocks the minion down.
But in this case, you're pretty much just knocking them out with one blow each.

EDIT: You're basically doing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyvjT2BO2Gs (warning, graphic content. It's just a fight scene from a movie, so not real, but don't watch if you're faint of heart)

Can't use Repulsor Fist with Pressure Point.

Yeah, an important thing to bear in mind is that a combat round can be anywhere from several seconds to several minutes, with the general average being a couple of minutes. The fight scene in OddballE8's post is probably only three or four rounds at most, with the PC (likely a blend of Marauder and Martial Artist specs) triggering critical injuries to help dispatch of minions at an accelerated rate on top of just raw damage.

In the prequels, we see Jedi using lightsabers to rip through battle droid minion groups with alarming speed; you can figure that Obi-Wan's lightsaber in TPM is probably modded enough to be Damage 8, Crit 1, ensuring that he's going to be taking out at least three battle droids per swing. So having a PC demolish bad guys in melee isn't something completely foreign to the setting.

why????

its a brawl weapon. i dont see a contradiction with pressure point, RAW. rep-fist also doesnt say it cant deal DMG as stum DMG (as other weapons specifically do)

When making a Brawl check against a living opponent, the character may choose to forgo dealing damage as wounds, instead dealing the equivalent damage as strain, plus additional strain equal to his ranks in Medicine. These checks cannot be made with any weapons , but this strain damage is not reduced by soak.

Because the rules say you can't.

oh, you're right. just got it too. damn, Inquisitor-concept ruined

Why? You can stack ranks of Medicine, Brawl, and use Anatomy Lessons, plus whatever you roll and your Brawn. Hardly a gimped concept.

Pressure Points all by its self is op, anything you tack on afterwards is overkill.
