No wave 6 article? Shame

My bad, my only experience with FFG releasing new waves info is from wave 5, which was announced almost just as wave 3/4 was released.

The magic of Gencon. Companies time their releases to come out in time for the con and announce new releases there to create buzz.

I think it has something to do with the available options for the next few waves. If you take a look at some of the prediction articles, you don't see a lot of legit options for the imperials other than the carrier (the one the crew from Rebels stolen in season 2, I forget the name) or the Venator Star Destroyer. Rebels side got a boost with Rouge One and Rebels, adding the Hammerhead and the Flagship (again, forgetting the name) during the space battle. Also add the fact that FFG seems to be moving away from "Legends" ships in favor of canon ones (and those that take place in the GCW, since we haven't seen TFA era ships in Armada yet).

Basically, the pool from which FFG can draw from for capital ships for Armada is vastly smaller than the pool for fighters for X-Wing. It's looks like they want to spread out waves and hopefully allow the movies, novels, comics, etc. to give them more options for future waves.

Personally, if this is the case, I'd be ok with an X-Wing "aces" type release. Give us repaints and more upgrade cards for the ships we already have.

I'm just hoping they do another campaign at some point that includes a set of picture admiral tokens for use on the back of your flagship and some new ship title cards.

Not in any rush though as we still haven't started this one yet...

I'm not sure I can afford another wave right now! But in all seriousness, X wing's wave 10 was teased in August 2016, and they got it in February 2017. Armada's wave 5 was teased at the same time, and was released in December 2016. We got ours in 4 months, they got theirs in 6. Plus we got an FFG designed campaign.

We're doing just fine.

We just got a ship a piece, a load of awesome fighters introducing new abilities, plus a campaign with a swathe of new aces... and folks are already wanting more?! Jeeze.

No one's demanding a new wave to appear in stores. Just an announcement would be nice, since we'll be waiting until late summer if things go like last year. I think we're all thinking of Imperial Assault, who just had a bunch of Jabba expansions come out and suddenly got the next set announced. We're bracing for a repeat of the agonizing info drought of spring 2016, but we're also hoping that that was a fluke brought on by the harbor explosion.

Not everyone has leveled up to wave 5 yet. I am still stuck at wave 2 because of the previous drying up of stock. So atm i'm quite happy that there is no new product yet before I even get my hands on CC. :) Also money problems. Also I sense that CC and wave 5 have not been fully explored yet. While a new announcement does not mean new products immediately, it would cause me(and probably the community) to focus on/think about new stuff to play/experiment with, what we don't have yet, rather than exploring the current iterations fully(feel free to correct me, but this happened to me recently as I planned for lists that included wave 3-5 stuff like biggs and flotillas but couldn't actually play them when I was about to go to an actual casual match).

Mc75 + Hammerhead Corvette
Finalizer + Venator

No Finalizer. Please it is too big. And ugly. I mean look at the ISD! So majestic.

Honestly, I don't find it ugly... to be really honest. A case of my thing is bigger than your thing? yes. It really didn't need to be 2x size of the ISD. Also, Imo, the ISD shoulda been a little bigger. :D

Also, I really want the red Republic paint theme Venator. But urk. FFG probably has plans to grey it out. =( I mean... it has the old republic red yellow circle insignia too.

I just want movie canon ships, is taht so bad. =(

Really. . . Do I have to go back to my research and let you guys know roughly how long till the next wave? I mean, if we track it compared to X-Wing we have a pretty similar trend going on

For those that dont know. X-Wing Wave 5 was announced on June 13, 2014 and released on November 26, 2014. Wave 6 was announced on August 15, 2014 and released on February 26, 2015

It is pretty simple trend analysis here but Armada has been following roughly the same schedule as X-Wing in terms of months between releases. So really we might not get ANYTHING announced until the end of the year.

I really don't follow your logic here. If you what you said is correct, Wave 5 and 6 announcements were only separated by 2 months.

We all have to take a deep breath!!!

Month of March-April could be fine for a announce, we juste received our new toy lesser than 2 month ago.

What I really think could be helpfull is maybe a new FAQ. And a good one cause there is still some stuff that let place to interpretation for the ''normal'' game or the CC.

German version of weave 5 and cc isn't even available yet -_-

Still im looking forward to another announcement. xD

Wave 3 was announced on 3/16/16, and released on 8/11/16. That's almost exactly 5 months apart.

sorry I meant wave two

That is because We had a longer wait for Wave 3.

Wave 6 is also when the Scum faction was released so if they follow the trend we may see one of those for us as well. Adding a third faction would take time for Armada since they are different games.

My pet theory is that we're going to see something from Rebels show up in the next wave for Armada. Currently Rebels is on a two week break (thank you Disney! ) and won't be back till the 18th. With the season ending in March, which would line up fairly nicely for GAMA.

The other option is that we're getting the MC-75 and an ISD I mod, which will be announced at GAMA.

I think Armada is going at the perfect pace for releases. Gives enough time to get the new stuff and really enjoy it before the even newer ships come out. Xwing was my first FFG game and while I still love it, it's starting to get a little intimidating keeping up with all the new releases and upgrades.

I rather see a faq for the campaign and the news ships

Hold on though.

X-Wing received 2 major wave expansions (8 and 9) as well as two repack expansions (Heroes of the Resistance and Imperial Veterans) and a major game-rebalancing FAQ/Errata/rules shakeup between the announcement of Armada Wave 3 and the release of Armada Wave 5.

I've not seen the third series of Rebels but.....

there's a droid army. I saw nothing about ships, but I did read that the droids teamed up with the Rebels in opposing the Empire. This could mean Droid ships for Rebels in Armada. I'm sure I read somewhere that Venators and Acclamators were still used by the Empire.

.....which, added to other ships not yet released, and potentially more new ships from movies and Rebels, there's still plenty of waves that can be released.

P.S.

I loathed both the Prequels and The Clone Wars series, but I happen to think that The Clone Wars is a much better setting for Armada as it was a full on war. Despite my dislike of the prequels, I'm among the few people who wants to play Armada and X-Wing games using Clone Wars era ships and starfighters. [/spoilers]

I wouldn't be surprised if they have moved to a bi-yearly release schedule.

1st announcement in March at GAMA, with a release around June/July.

2nd announcement in August at GENCON, with a release around Christmas.

That is what they did last year. I'm expecting a repeat this year.

And if for some reason something isn't announced next Month at GAMA, there IS Star Wars Celebration in April - which they are going to have a presence at.

You may want to consider that Armada is more expensive than X-Wing. X-Wing is cheaper for customers to buy, so the market will bear more product out there. The more-expensive Armada has to be careful not to flood the market with a product that stores can't sell as much of. If they did that, stores would stop ordering, and the game would truly be dead. Instead, they produce at a sustainable rate, and the game continues to sell. This is pretty much the opposite of dead, really. But as fans, we all want something new and shiny to anticipate, so we start complaining when we don't have something presented to us to look forward to! :)

I'm not sure how well that holds up. Yes, many physically smaller squadrons are cheaper. But many of the larger ships and expansions easily reach into the $30+ range, and are designed to be the singular sources for certain important upgrades and popular characters.
