Wave 10.2 small ships

By MenaceNsobriety, in X-Wing

Most of the wave 10 talk has been about the Upsilon and Kylo. Probably rightfully so but I wanted to see what everyone has thought of the overlooked small ships.

So far my experience with the Quadjumper is that it dies...quickly. If you see a Quad and you are flying small ships then you have to kill it before it starts tossing you on rocks. I still hold out hope that it can be useful but so far have not found a working list.

Sabine's TIE has a bunch of different ways you can build it and can fill many different roles. Rex is great as cheap annoying filler and Ahsoka can be that budget ship rebels have been missing for so long. My personal favorite however is Kamakazi Sabine with Masterpiece, BoShek and EMP. Add EPT to taste. She can bump just about any ship within range 3 and if they have not activated you get to BoShek them. It is great fun playing cat and mouse with your opponent when they have 2+ ships in range. They have to consider who you will go after or if you even use BoShek at all.

What are your thoughts and builds for these ships?

Haven't played it yet, but I'm liking this for Ahsoka:

Juke

Title

Recon Specialist

Focus action, then spend one to Evade for Juke or Arc Dodge if necessary. 23 points.

The Tugboat can absolutely wreck small ships flight pattern. Its hilarious how powerful the PS1 ship is with that pre-move tractor, especially if you intel agent to know where theyre going first. Problem is it doesnt do much against large ships, lord have mercy if you face a double large ship.

Havnt touched the TIE yet, but Asohka w/ OpSpec, VI, Captured TIE for protection surrounded by SnapShot users is hilarious sounding.

I've flown Asohka with proxies earlier with captured TIE and it was definitely fun. I did NOT fly it against high level pilots on the other side of the table and didn't extensively test the thing. I'm not expecting it to be the next tournament thing - but it's a cheap support ship.

Sabine I want to try... it's cheap enough for filler anyway.

I think this captured TIE fighter has just arrived too late in the game though to be of much use. Too much doesn't care about 3 agility, and two attack is not cutting it anymore.

This is my plan

KTX (100)

Ahsoka Tano (23) - TIE Fighter
Veteran Instincts (1), Sabine's Masterpiece (1), Captured TIE (1), Intelligence Agent (1), EMP Device (2)

Miranda Doni (45) - K-Wing
Twin Laser Turret (6), Extra Munitions (2), Plasma Torpedoes (3), Concussion Missiles (4), Bodhi Rook (1), Guidance Chips (0)

Biggs Darklighter (32) - X-Wing
R2-D2 (4), Stealth Device (3)

Ahsoka gets in range to provide target locks for Miranda and play bump/Emp disruption. Biggs does Biggs things.

Tie is a great great filler . For around 20 points you get a ship that will DO something - maybe not damage but more than just blocking. Its gonna free so many lists that ended up at around 80 points with nothing to fill there.

That's certainly no Omega Leader but it's not bad. I wouldn't want to sink so many points into a TIE, though. The 3 extra points for O.Leader are getting you a lot - his ability and an extra shield, at least. Feels a couple of points overcosted.

What I meant to say was: I've posted this elsewhere but I've used the TIEs to modify the 'Snap Crackle Pop' A-Wings list and bring in Operations Specialist, which works very nicely with Snap Shot.

"AHAHA"

  • Sabine Wren - Snap Shot, Sabine's Masterpiece, Operations Specialist (21)
  • Ahsoka Tano - Snap Shot (19)

It's very interesting to fly, because you're looking for bumps ALL THE TIME. Sabine brings a lot to the table, both in her repositioning in tight areas with her pilot ability and with all the free focus tokens you get from Operations Specialist. Ahsoka is a bit more average unless Operations Specialist is consistently feeding her tokens (she really needs her ability to be range 1-2) but I think she's better than just 19pts of A-Wing.

I think it's better than the original 5x A-Wings version, and having higher PS pilots mixed in makes the Snap Shot a bit more tricky because not all of your firing arcs are moving early in the activation phase. It's a proper headache to fly, though, especially with all the things Sabine could do - she's like a mini-Echo for her options!
