FIRST ORDER CARRIER in Poe Comic?

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

Like many of you (I Best!) I just ordered all of Wave 10 today. While The Force Awakens in not a masterpiece of film; it gave us some cool new ships.

I have been looking for some better images of that nice FO Carrier in Poe Dams comic, but all I can ever find is this view:

I have not been into all of the extra book stuff, so I am asking if you read PD Comic did it have other views of this ship in it?

Thanks Gang!

:)

... YUP... this IS the only picture of the dam-thing.

I think this would be better in Armada, speaking of which, When will the Resistance and 1st Order be in Armada. IMHO they could use a 3rd and 4th faction.

Why do we even have an off-topic section...

I think FFG might actually stay OT with just REB & IMP Goodies.

I think the reason there are no armada first order and resistance is because we don't see capital resistance ships except for the useless New Republic ones that amazingly get less screen time than the quadjumper, and thus there is no resistance capital ship to balance against First Order might.

is this thing even space faring?

can't tell by the white void, but I don't think those tiny people are wearing space suits

also, you won't see it in Armada. We have Gonzatis already, and they're the same exact thing (carrier)

I agree... like in REBELLION, I am feeling that FFG is going to stay OT with MARDA.

As for being a space worthy ship... dunno Brah but keep in mind that STAR WARS likes to use shields and simple air mask when hanging out in space.

Also those ties aren't TIE'd down at all, what's to stop the smallest bit of space junk from pinging against it and forever sending it away...

Defense Screens and Shields... Brah.

See how the ships and people are just fine in that hanger image I just posted.

;)

Is this even a ship? It's more like a floating building - lucky to have one bank that isn't red, let alone turns!

I don't know if it CAN go into space or not, but in the issue it's hovering in atmosphere.

I doubt we'd see it anytime soon (Scum need some Epic love first) but I hope THIS will one day turn up as a First Order Epic ship. Something which will be guaranteed if it turns up in Episode VIII or IX

Best part is, it should be able to fit in at 1/270 scale. You won't need fiddly docking clamps, as Ties can just sit on top of it.

Not sure how I feel about a Tie-AT-AT, but that is something else from the Poe comic which caught my attention....

So it's basically a 20th century carrier but floating around.

The fighters are exposed, as is the crew. The turrets seem to have horrible dead angles. It's blocky, unoriginal, lacks detail, boring and uninspired.

Yes, totally Sequel Trilogy material.

Yep!

Shields! In Star Wars there's this thing called deflector shields.

Also the crew are not exposed, in the actual comic book photo it's clear that First Order JetTroopers are jumping off it. Logically, with the Ties and Dropships sitting on it, those are pilots and other Troopers getting ready for action.

Because clearly it's designed to support ground assaults, not battle starships.

Yeah, because it's a carrier. It'd be a rubbish carrier if it was thin and streamlined. Even the Gozanti is a brick.

This I agree with, which is why I like it. It's a carrier, it's not supposed to be cool and sexy because it is a means of getting from A to B. Aircraft carriers aren't as sexy as other warships, but they get the job done.

Everyone was complaining about Tie Fighters and X-Wings in the sequels. THIS is something new to Star Wars so yes, totally and completely Sequel Trilogy. Embrace the new.

Alright, I just want to say that I just totally disregard this "Carrier" as a thing. It has absolutely zero practical use.

But that AT-TIE

Jesus Christ NO

This is the only carrier the Empire needs.

Agreed!

I expect to see that soon in Armada. Just a little too big for X-Wing.

So much wasted space in those hangars!

Those bombers should be wing to wing and front to back. It's a theme I find frustrating in Rebels - they only ever show like a third to a tenth of the ships they should. Phoenix squadron is what, 4 A-wings? I guess if you lose all four every battle you'd hesitate to field a full squadron, but since they never seem to have trouble getting replacement pilots and ships, why not field more and increase your chances of not losing them all?

The thing I thought was foolish about the FO Carrier was that the TIE Fighters were not beneath or to the sides of the carrier. People somehow forget that this is space and the TIE fighter is entered from above. So why not have racks of them beneath the carrier.

I would think the bombers as well as the TIE fighter show be rack mounted. And yes, wing to wing, front to back.

Yea, there should at least be lots of scaffolding or ladders for the pilots to use to enter the ships. It'd be leaps better even if there were just some docking clamps on that surface the TIE's locked into and the pilots could enter/exit by climbing.

Slightly related, I preferred the old lore where TIEs could not land without docking clamps without destroying their wings and crashing. It was a way for the Empire to dissuade theft and defection, since without Imperial docking facilities you wouldn't be able to land the ship.
