I've been trying to play Fleet Battle star wars miniatures games since... well, ever since I got into gaming in general. I tried two other games previously (SWM Starship Battles, and SWPocketmodels), but they reaaaaaaaaaaally didn't scratch the itch.

I avoided X-Wing because... I don't really know. It just came out at a time when I couldn't -really- get into it?

I finally got into Armada because seriously guys have you seen this game?

Big ships, little squadrons - it seriously looks epic on the table, and really feels like the big Star Wars space battles. It feels like it has everything in it, and is a different scale than any other miniatures games I've had in the past.

Interested when I first heard about it before it was launched. Then life got in the way and I forgot about it. Then I received it for Christmas in 2015 right after wave 2 dropped. I had a choice between Armada and X-Wing for a present...I chose Armada and have not regretted it one bit.

How about you Cuban? How did you get into Armada?

There was this giant ISD model... that even as a rather luke warm star wars person, was super cool... Then about a year after that my wife bought it and a core set for my Birthday... Yeah, that birthday gift cost me a lot of money :D

Happy friday all!

How did i get into armada? Are you kidding?! As soon as a friend and i heard about it, we were hooked. Ok fine, I was hooked

I still think the whole reason he turned to the dark side is because he snapped after being called "annie" for the millionth time ;)

Cuthawolf dragged me in and now I am stuck loving this game :D

Happy Friday Cubanboy!

Happy Friday to everyone!

May you wash your miniatures in a bath made from the tears of many vanquished foes.

I'm not into Armada yet, in that I don't have the Starter Box or a fleet, but I'm into Armada in that I can't wait to start buying. This is how I got excited about this game:

I played a game using just the Starter Box contents and it was wicked awesome fun.

Happy Friday!

I think I first came across Armada late 2015, probably via Imperial Assault which I'd owned for about a year at the time. I saw the 2015 Worlds final on Youtube and I was fascinated by how the manoeuvring and commands and everything worked. I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan – I enjoy it, but I didn't grow up with it and I didn't really know anything about any of the ships – but it just looked cool and I liked the slow, casual feel it seemed to have.

Sadly, it was much too expensive for something I wasn't sure I could even find people to play with, so I left it at that. It came back to haunt me every now and then with increasing frequency, until finally last December I got a tip about a pretty decent sale and decided to pull the trigger.

I haven't got very many games in yet because I don't have that many people to play with, and I don't even own a table that's anywhere near big enough, but I'm loving it anyway!

Happy Friday! Got some action tomorrow at Top Deck Games in southern NJ. I'm so boned.

How'd I get into Armada?

Amazon. There was a $50-some sale on the core and I said why the hell not back in 2015, well prior to wave 2. I couldn't even tell you what I was actually buying at the time... probably something for the house.

Previously, I'd laughed at the expense and just said there was no way FFG was taking more cash from me. At that point I had invested a little into X Wing with some friends, but we didn't play a whole lot at all.

happy friday :)

how'd i get in....I like star wars, I like sci-fi games....

oh did I mention Star Destroyers????

Happy Friday.

I got into Armada by way of Rebellion. After playing that game for a while I wanted to modify and expand it so I picked up some fighter packs to use for that. That led to me wanting to try out Armada and a lot of $$$ later I'd say I'm a full blown addict.

Oh, and Star Destroyers.

And cause Ben said he'd do unspeakable things to me if I didn't.

Played xwing and was enjoying it. Got out of it at just the right time IMO due to the increase of "who cares" ships and "what the?" meta.

I had a buddy who really wanted to do armada and he bought in. I wanted to wait until Wave 2 because none of wave one ships really made me excited (MkII is ugly, glad is ok, VSD is too slow, Neb is cool, and CR90 is ok but not great looking). I wanted ISD. I wanted Mon Calmari stuff! I wanted the RAIDER!!!!

About a year ago, I was searching for a second miniatures game to play on the side with my g/f, as my primary is...decidedly more expensive and time consuming than the FFFG games are, and well, she likes Star Wars. So I had a friend show us Armada, and X-Wing. We went with X-wing because of the cheaper buy-in, until last fall when I found a 50% off sale at a local retailer (and the Interdictor was out). After getting a large chunk of wave 1, I got hooked and play as often as I can.

I was into IA first with some friends. Then I caved in and got a LOT of X-Wing and found myself sucked in by the beauty of the components.

My friend pointed out Armada and I was like £70?! Never! But that didn't last. Now I own lots at great expense to my finances, but due to a baby I can't really justify duplicates of much seeing as I don't play very often.

I looked into armada because the ships were cool. mcworrell was an old friend of mine and he pulled me aside and told me he got it. we played and have continued to ever since. Admittedly, he beats my imperial ass more often than i'd like to admit

Played a demo game with a friend who had bought the core. Instantly hooked.

In between shopping and STAW mini tourneys at one Gencon, we saw the demo running for this game. So we sat down and blew through 4 rounds while people were walked through their first round.

Mind you, a lot of what we did was wrong, but the point is that we latched on right away

Started 2 months ago. I really liked the look of the ships and the Starter Set was cheap on Amazon. I played the starter game with a friend of mine and we were instantly hooked. The amount of strategy and fleet customization that goes into his game is awesome. I always saw Armada and X-Wing at my local shop but wasn't really into Miniature games at the time (mostly played MTG) and a lot of the people there didn't really play. Money well spent so far.

My friend had a Core Set of X-Wing that we messed around with a few times. My girlfriend took some careful notes and, one joyous December morning when we were gearing up to go see The Force Awakens, I found a sheet covering the kitchen table. Under it was an Armada Core Set and two 3x3 game boards she had made herself.

I've always been a fan of fleet actions. Played Wooden ships and Iron men, loved Fighting Steel on the PC, dabbled in Pirates of the Spanish Maine. I watched X-Wing(s of War) for a while (never bought into it). I wondered if they would ever push it into the realm of capitol ships. FFG announced the CR90 for epic XW(OW) and I was somewhat intrigued and still sat back and observed to see just how far they could push that system.

Then, one day, while scrolling through my FB feed *BAM* "Fantasy Flight Games announces Star Wars: Armada". A few months later, I placed my order for the core and wave I, and the looooooong wait for the release began.

Happy Friday!

I have always loved Star wars a ton. I happened upon Armada while shopping for new canon books and instantly fell in love. I have always wanted to get into miniatures and if you pair that with my one true desire to command a Star Destroyer and I was in it to win it. I came in a couple months before wave 3 so I quickly got up to date. Played a couple tournies, fell out of touch with it cause life and I am back in it now cause of CC and I am caught back up again. I don't play Rebels cause I am not scum. (also its just cheaper for me to focus one fleet)
