G8 experimental projectors timing

By Tobyn, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hi,

could a a judge or someone similiary familiar with the rules explain the timing of the g8 projectors. It states during the determine course step reduce the speed by 1 (can go to 0). But if the player activating the ship when do they spend the token or command to increase the ships speed, before or after the G8 activation?

cheers

The short version:

G-8 must be used before the opponent begins to determine course.

So the acting player can then decide to alter his speed to compensate (if able).

Cool, so not that great then

They work best with other stuff, like tractor beams, KONSTANTINE and titus. Throw in slicer tools too.

They can also affect engine tech or quantum storm movement.

GMO corn + G8 is the best combo in the game right now.

What is Monsanto? Sounds like a cigar.

It's Konstantine's alter ego!

Note to self: phone auto-correct is INSANE.

And GMO? I can't find it in the armada slang thread.

Genetically modified organism. Monsanto are a big player in that industry.

Ah ok XD

Missed that they could stop engine techs

I leave you the FAQ quote for refference:

G-8 Experimental Projector
When this effect is resolved on an enemy ship and that ship changes its speed dial during the Determine Course step, the ship’s speed is temporarily reduced by 1 from the current speed on its dial. This effect can be resolved on an enemy ship that is executing a maneuver from an effect such as Engine Techs. This effect is resolved before the Determine Course step of that maneuver and reduces the ship’s temporary speed by 1 to a minimum of 0.
