So at worlds last year I ran

2x TLT Gold Squadron Ywings.

Went 6-2. Lost to the guy who came in first in Swiss (I had him beat until he rolled 16 natural evades to stop Ryad from dying and finally take out my Y wing giving him more points than my half dead Chewie. He ran on points and time. Smart thing to do and he beat me but my list is great against palp defenders.) (Yes this list can beat Dengaroo, played Faan and crushed his dengaroo list because I overwhelm him with attacks and hitpoints, but lost to Nand’s. I didn’t expect his super aggressive Dengar and he caught me a round earlier drastically out of position, never could recover.)

So I am changing the Chewie from Luke crew to Gunner and Rex crew because it would give me a full focus token for the second shot rather than Luke’s one die. (I never used chopper anyway)

That leaves me with the 2 Y-wings which I think are insanely good. But I have been having a lot of success with a VCX with Autoblaster, FCS, Finn and Rey. I can use Chopper pilot at PS 4 for 48 points instead of the Gold’s. Not sure if that would be better or worse. Just want to hear some ideas.

I think you should try hot shot copilot instead of rex crew. Then you can strip a focus from dengar, or from a defender on the first gunner attack. Then I would keep the tlt's to pound the damage home after that.

48 points is 4 bandit pilots
or a beefy Corran Horn with r2, FCS, engine upgrade and PTL.

if running a vcx, imo you're far better off with kannan protecting himself and his buddies

Except Hotshot copilot doesn't work on Dengar. He spends the focus and then uses the droid to gain another. He will always have it for both shots. He is going to spend it anyways. Rex makes sure I punch damage through.

Bandits have trouble hitting anything with 3 agility and a token stack so that is out of the question. I have thought of Corran but with Black market slicer tools holding him in check, I'm not sure if he is the answer.

This squad worked really well strictly as an offensive list. Kanaan is good but to kit him out properly, he is not laying in the big hits. The goal here is to hit harder than my opponent.

4 dice will hit plenty hard, it's a VCX

at 38 starting, plus

autoblaster (2)

Recon (3)

Rey (2)

you're sittin on 47 points with mods up the whazzo, plenty to deny two red dice while still having focus leftover from rey to modify your attack

Could just go with Poe and a Bandit next to your 2 Ys. I hear that used to be a good list. Maybe not stress hog Y anymore though, I'd probably just throw those 2 extra points into making Poe hit harder.

I think the offense gained by Finn Rey, is better than the defense gained by Kanaan. This is just personal preference more than anything. The faster you bring your opponent down, the less they are shooting you.
