I started The OA with the Mrs last night and we are hooked. It's a very odd show, but pulls you in. That's a good one. It won't last that long, though, as it's just a few episodes.

You haven't seen past Season 2 for you, have you? Lots of things mess up for him. :)

I'll see about Spartacus. Thanks.

The cool thing about Sparty is that something happens and you call hogwash on it. There's no way that is possible! This show is ridiculo ... What!? .. Oh, that actually happened. For reals!?

Keep in mind, the first few episodes are not awesome, but give it a few and I guarantee you'll be hooked.

I stopped watching Vikings when his son returned all grown up. Not sure why I stopped though. Might have been life getting the way .. Or lack of interest.

I'd love to hear what you think about the show when you are done.

OK....we finished Episode 3 last night. We are totally sucked into "The OA". Hearing the description of the show just didn't get me interested in it, but both my wife and I are really liking it. It's totally weird and we are not sure as to what the heck is going on sometimes, but we both are really liking it. We had half of 2 to finish and then were going to watch "some" of the next episode, but ended up watching the whole thing because we were sucked in so bad.

So, I know this may sound childish, but the Avatar: the last airbender cartoon is really good. My Fiance was very against it at first, but after watching a couple episodes was completely engrossed.

My Little Pony  :D

Slightly unrelated .. but I've revisited some of the shows I loved as a young fella. He-Man, Voltron, She-ra, Astroboy, etc.

The all totally suck!

I understand there's some psychology around having memories fonder than the original experience.

Lesson in this for me was to leave the great shows of yesteryear .. in yesteryear

Years ago i bought season 2 of A-Team very cheap, didn't really enjoy it actually was rather bad.

Legion if you want a mind trip.

I thought the OA was garbage until the third episode or so...Then it got me.

Binged the rest fast. It's quite interesting to try and figure it out as it goes.

But if you don't do black mirror next I'll go all Jean Claude van Norris Lee on you.

It depends a bit on how you approach them. Kids' shows will always be a lot more flimsy in their writing, as a whole. Especially the saturday morning cartoons that were often barely more than long running ads. But if you keep that in mind they can still be enjoyed.

Truly great shows will still stand the test of time, maybe not in their speed, set dressing or special effects but certainly in the stories they tell. That is why Star Trek TOS, Hill Street Blues or the Rod Serling Twilight Zones are still excellent: they're about the story they tell.

About great shows I still enjoy Batman the Animated Series, perhaps even more so now I can watch them in English an listen to Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill.

Has Babylon 5 already been mentioned?

And what about Lazy Town? :D :P

I watched it with my son. It's great.

Bab 5 was already mentioned and seen.

Old tv shows are usually bad. I saw all those you mentioned and knew they were bad when I was watching them. The show that really turned out to suck for me and how bad surprised me was Gilligan's Island. I used to LOVE that show.

Have you discovered the secret of the third movement yet?

He awoke with the 3rd and that's where we are.

I would avoid the pretentious lousy-ass wish we wuz Science Fiction snarg-shows at all cost. OA & Black Ass Crack Mirrah... HEL-NAH!!!

If I wanna see stupid-A-Wholes walking around with gaddam smart fart phones and worrying about what fake friends and strangers think of them: I can go to Wal-Marts.

Netflix does have some badass manga series so there is that golden glory. Pick your flavor and have fun.

Hmmm, JBR7's post above indirectly raises a good point.

Joe Stated he dislikes Netflix's Sci-Fi productions and enjoys Manga. I quite enjoy some of Netflix's Sci-Fi production and despite having lived in Japan for a considerable chunk of my life, can't stand Manga or Anime.

Without this information, should Joe ask for a recommendation we'd all gladly recommend shows that WE like. However, these might be at the other end of Joe's interest spectrum.

Perhaps, a better method for making recommendations would be to state:

a. the show(s) we recommend

b. why they were memorable

c. 2 or 3 other shows/genres that we like.

It might add some value to our recommendations ... just a thought.

Meh, some still hold out. Others are best enjoyed with a bong an apriciation for cheezy things.

Watched the real ghostbusters ep "the collect call of Cthulhu" a few weeks ago. As an adult finaly got all the H.P. Lovecraft references. Funny enough that was my fave ep as a kid, years before I would learn about HPL.

I'll galdly watch the original Battlestar Glactica over the new one.

He-man on the other hand, I didn't like that cartoon back when I was a kid, and I had a ton of Masters of the universe toys. (I grew up with the first mini comics in wich He-man started out a some barbarian caveman.)

Ooh Kill la Kill , Gurren lagann and robotech... nice! To bad there's no Little witch accademia, tough.

LOL glitter force! I actually like the pretty cure series, especially the 3d co-op movie.

VOLTRON & SEVEN DEADLY SINS are both very nice... and 7DS has it's second season coming this week!

While I can watch some manga, my wife will not watch any of it. :)

Walking Dead did start back up again last night, though. My wife said we were only going to watch half as she had to get to bed. We ended up watching it all! Score!

Person of Interest, a criminally underrated (and gone too soon) show from CBS.

I really enjoyed it but they seemed to get a bit lost in the last two or three seasons. The whole war between AI's just never clicked for me.

Season 2 of The Expanse continues to improve on the already-impressive S1. I don't think I've enjoyed s sci-fi with real story flow so much since the first time I watched BSG. But this is way cooler, grittier. https://www.wired.com/2017/02/expanse-authors-tv-shows/?mbid=social_twitter

I think I'm going to start the Expanse soon. I looks interesting.
