Historically speaking, I believe the U.S. stopped taking the UK seriously about 241 years ago now, which is even longer ago than wave 1 in Armada.

No - you play in one, and the top players from each heat (which is why you can't play in both - nobody wants to see a grown man playing with himself at NOVA!) end up in a final match on the last day where FFG puts you at a table, says nice things about you, then smashes your ships with a hammer in front of everyone else to remind you who is boss.
Now that NoVa is getting closer, who all is going? I'll be there on Friday for the second heat.
