Trying out the Ups, Swarm Leader, and some thematic buddies. Thoughts? Might bring it to an event tomorrow night.

The clusters allow the Epsilons to have defense from Hux's focus, despite giving their evades to Omega Ace. Omega Ace's action will generally be to Evade as well, while Hux & SO give him the required Focus/TL.

Sensor cluster can be good for keeping those guys alive a little longer. I have been putting Pattern Analyser on my /fo's that are supporting a Swarm Leader so that they can still evade after a red maneuver. If they are likely to get shot at I can always opt not to spend that token.

Pure theory crafting, but I'm fairly proficient with TIE/fos, thanks to Omega Leader. Hux & SO giving OA the Focus and Target Lock is going to be a big deal, I think -- OA can even pull some red maneuvers if needed, and STILL hand out 2-5 crits.

... Overall, though, I don't think it's going to do terribly well in competitive scenes, mostly because OA is shooting first, meaning hitting shields early on. And, in a TIE/fo, there might not BE a later on.

But I might take it tomorrow regardless, just for something different.

Omega Ace's ability offers a unique combo with Swarm Leader -- at range 1 and w/ both TIEs contributing their Evade tokens, Omega Ace automatically rolls FIVE critical hits.

Yes, defense die and shields mitigate that, but FIVE CRITS! And four at any range beyond 1 (with both TIEs supporting).

I'd probably recommend NOT flying in tight formation early on, or maybe instead making the Upsilon the first engagement, so you've weakened some shields before you bring in the big gun.

As a rule, Omega Leader is beyond comparison better. I LOVE Omega Leader, but giving OL more dice is going to be extremely wishy-washy, because she has terrible dice mods (can't spend her TL 95% of the time). 4-5 crits vs 4-5 focused dice likely equals out in terms of token mitigation, but the 4-5 crits allows for MASSIVE burst damage that OL requires a perfect god roll to achieve.

Again, not saying the proposed list is competitive. Once OA goes down, you're in a ton-o'-trouble.

I figured you'd like the Clusters, as they help mitigate the awfulness that is green dice.

Upgrading to a TIE with less defense means you're spending more points that will die faster. Also, the Epsilons are important for blocking up opponents, which adds to their ability to set up the OA kill shot...

This list isn't very subtle -- OA kill shot and the Upsilon hammer. Trying to add any more tricks to it is pushing your points around wastefully, because it's not going to produce anything more effective. It's not a swarm or even a mini-swarm, it's not dodging arcs, it's not trying to last to end-game.

... And I'm definitely not suggesting it's competitive, though I will do some testing at home as soon as I can convince my brother to come over.

the other, greater problem is that 2-dice ships are basically ass without green dice mitigation of their own

it doesn't matter that the expendable goobers die basically at an insignificantly slower rate (clusters don't actually improve your survivability that much, all it takes is the roll of a single focus result before they become negligible) because they're basically not going to accomplish anything

not a matter of being competitive, I just don't find anything fun about game pieces that don't do anything. Hence the suggestion for better offense on ships that simply aren't very defensively talented and which do not really do much to reward you when they stick around because all they do is flick spitballs at the opponent

I'd still want the Epsilons for blocking, and don't think that can be replaced with anything more viable.

In terms of the 4 points for the two clusters, the chance that they trigger isn't THAT bad, and they could be life saving... And I don't think anything else would benefit THAT much from additional upgrades, except maybe to throw a shield on OA...

But I'll see if leaving them as empty blockers opens up any more interesting options for the Upsilon.

I don't think upgrading the TIEs is the right answer though. TIEs are garbage (unless they're named Omega Leader), these ones just recognize that without being told, hah.

Kylo with swarm leader, FCS, rebel cap, kallis and 2 x7 defenders. Defenders can block, focus and evade. It relies on early damage output. Probably too weak against aces.

Slippery how about changing the rebel captive to an intelligence agent and putting on kylo ren title? then you still get stress but can also see where aces are going (And set up blocks with deltas)
