Beginner Fleet, 400pts VSD + two Gladiators

By Armin, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello!

I will play my first game on Sunday out of 400pts and I would appriciate some advices on my general strategy and some advices regarding the ship setups.

I only have a core box, two gladiators and a rebel assault frigatte to chose my options from.

As a basic concept ,I'm planning to go with a VSD + two gladiators. Fly them in wedge formation, VSD in the front and the two gladiators covering the flanks.

In the first step, I'm asking you to comment, wether I'm heading into a completly wrong direction, or this concept could work. If this could work, I would highly appriciate some recommendations on the ship setups.

Thanks,
Armin

With Screed ACMs will be superior to expanded Launchers. They are a lot cheaper and the guaranteed crit from your commander helps a lot.

Gunnery teams on GSDs are not needed as the close range makes them less useful and you should be trying for double arcs on a target. You can swap them for Ordnance experts when you eventually get the cards in other packs.

The VSD is also a bit pricy but with only 3 ships and no more models I see your problem. When you buy another ship (Arquitens would be good) or get a fighter pack you can strip out 2 Intel Officers, Point defence reroute, VSD-II to VSD-I and expanded armament to afford more.
