I have "No Disintegrations". Questions?

By AdarTallon, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Informant is a talent in the Diplomat sourcebook, so I didn't give it a full description because it already exists, and I made the bad assumption that everyone is as obsessed with getting every book as me. Sorry about that :( .

Basically, it lets you once per session just say, "Hey, you know this problem we're having, I happen to know this guy who can help with that..." and then your informant shows up and you can barter for information.

D'oh. I didn't recognize it and didn't go looking in any of the previous sourcebooks for it. Thanks.

Seeing as I haven't gotten mine yet (patience running thin), what is the armor? Or is it just the Mandalorian armor?

its nothing special actually. 5 hp, 2 soak, +1 defense.

I do like the 5 hp, though.

I was actually asking what the full list of new armor was, or if that was all there was.

There is also a sweet set of flying armor and a set of armor that gives two boost to coercion check. Both have good stats but are a little on the pricey side.

and imho its better you tweak other armors instead of buying those.

I think it's RAI to be

"When wearing this armour, instead of your base encumbrance limit being Brawn+5, it is now (Brawn+5)+5"

ie Brawn+10.

I have been thinking on this more, trying to understand why it's worded the way it is and I think I have an answer.

If we get a species in the future that increases the Encumbrance it can carry then a simple way to word that would be:

"X species adds 10 to their Brawn instead of the usual 5 when calculating their Encumbrance threshold."

If the Armour was written in the same way then it would create a conflict in how they operate together. Buy writing it the way they have it allows both to stack without confusion...

Of course they could have just written "Add 5 to your Encumbrance threshold when wearing this armour."

The problem with that wording though is that it raises the question of if you still suffer the Encumbrance of the Armour when wearing it

Could you show your work on this?

The Armored Drop Suit has better handling than you could get with any of the personal flight options, by a good bit and the Hunter's Trophy armor is way better than Chitin Armor in my option. I'm not sure either have attachments or mods that simulate what they do.

use of anti grav-shute or those Rocket-boits, not even touching your amore wih that. the listed armors have only 1 HP IIRC. I was only mentioning an altenative approach. its not the same technically, but ingame it might be a matter of how you try to intruduce it to the GM? ;) I dont like armors with only a few hardpoints.

Okay, I see. I would suggest that anyone buying Armored Drop Suit is buying it because they want to have the best personal flight option possible. It is currently better than the repulsor boots, the jet pack and the new rocket boots in ND. There are certainly cheaper options, namely all of them, so the only reason to buy this is because you want the best. The same is true for the Trophy Armor. You're not buying Trophy armor unless a coercion bonus is important to you (or rp reasons of course). If a coercion bonus matters to you, this is the best you're going to get (I'm excited to get this for my warden).

I do agree, if you aren't after either of those things, there will likely be sexier options. Particularly sense, as you pointed out, the number of HPs they get are pretty small.

youre right for sure, if you can pick the desired armor from you wardrobe it adds a nicely option for such drop offs. add in that attachment thats lets you unload the armor with a button. next then just crawl over to the gear-box you also dropped off, just to slip into your prederred armor again is just an awesome maneuver ;)

That's definitely possible to be future proofing it.

For armors, the -3 from wearing, that's not tied to Brawn is it? The flavor text talks about reducing weight and encumbrance of stuff you're wearing/carrying, but the specifics don't mention an actual drop in encumbrance rating for them, just an increase in your Brawn score. So maybe I'm forgetting something else about how Brawn ties in.

It would be interesting if this mod was basically a Gyrostabilizer for general use that would work on anything you felt like picking up, instead of tied to a single item. The versatility would certainly make the 2 HP cost of adding it worthwhile. 7 enc after mods is nice, but eating up 2 HP for that, not sure if I'd choose it.

It's the exact same thing as Rebel Heavy Armor from Forged in Battle.

The flight armor turns you into a Silhouette 0 vehicle. Ponder that one for a bit. The armor makes you smaller.

I am now really excited about the drop suit. Would someone mind to post the full stateline, including maximum attitude and System Strain?

Edited by SEApocalypse

sys strain 3, soak 1, def 1, silh. 0, speed 2, handling +2, req piloting (p). it says: allowing the wearer to fly from cover to cover. theres no info on altitude. its supposed to be like death frkm above, it also says you navigate down. i suppose the use is not to fly high, more like on sides, or even a little up, because it mentioned , 'or to rain down attacks from above'.

hope that helps

As Gordonovan said, the main draw here is the +2 handling, sil 0 and the no flight height restriction, with the added benefit of not taking fall damage whiles its activated. The downside being its only 1/1 armor with 2HPs. As I said though, if you are looking for the best personal flying option, this is it by a good bit. 7500 credits btw.

Vacuum Seal as well or do I have to spend one of those two hardpoints on that? It definitely sounds awesome and the right piece of armor for my little Verpine pilot. Still, how much SS, hoch much SS, can you pull a few double maneuvers with this thing? :D

What is the Skip tracer tree like as I'm working on a Chiss Mandalorian an FFG wants 30 bucks shipping to the UK and would take 3-8 weeks, So any help would be good. And thanks in advance

Sil 3, Spd 6, Hnd +3 Def 0/0, Armor 2, HTT 12, SST 10, Hyperdrive Class 2, 1 hard point, light laser cannons (linked 1) proton torpedo laucher (limited ammo 1) special rule that it counts as 1 Sil lower when targeted

Is this the Protectorate?

I don't recall a Vacuum Seal. It does specifically say Piloting (planetary) flight.

Skip tracer is half Investigator from Endless Vigil with merchant, social and computer stuff sprinkled in. It is basically the investigative and business side of bounty hunting. It is almost entirely non-combat although it has a handy new talent called Hard boiled that lets you heal some wounds along with strain at the end of combat. Overall I'm not sure I'd take it as my first specialization, but I could see taking it as a 2nd or 3rd fairly often.
